Great road win!  But probably best that I stayed home, the last two times I trekked up to URI they lost…
Go Revs!
Great season so far, I believe in this team and our Coach!

From Smith Center:

Good morning GW Athletics Advisory Council!

Today is the day that you have been waiting for as President Granberg has concluded her search and is set to name the next director of athletics for GW. I am proud of the process that the President developed as she conducted a national search to find an individual who is passionate about providing a holistic student-athlete experience in pursuit of excellence in the classroom and in competition while preparing future leaders for our world.

In just over an hour, the President will announce that Michael Lipitz has been named as Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics for GW (full release can be found below).  I have had the chance to speak with Michael over the past few weeks, and I am confident that you will enjoy meeting and working with him. Your role will be critical in his early days as you share your insights, experiences, history and ideas with Michael as he begins his journey here at GW. I look forward to you having the chance to meet Michael and his family when he arrives on campus in August.

Once again, thank you for all that you do for our student-athletes, coaches and staff.  It has been an honor of a lifetime to serve GW and I look forward to cheering on the Buff and Blue this fall!

All the very best,
Tanya

Change can be good, very good. Looking forward, let’s hope for an ambitious new A.D. who has considerable experience with big time college hoops programs.  I am also looking forward to an announcement about a new location and plan for the Basketball Practice Facility. President Granberg has indicated her support for big time hoops success and for the practice facility. I have heard her speak about her experience at Clemson, where she saw first-hand the importance and return on investment of successful college athletics.

Full email to GW Athletics Advisory Council:
To our GW Advisory Council;

I hope this note finds you all doing well. We had an amazing Commencement Weekend here in Foggy Bottom after a busy end to the spring semester.

I want to share some personal news that will be more public later this afternoon when we will announce that I am going to leave GW later this summer.  I believe the release says something about me arriving on campus 32 years ago, so you can imagine that this was not an easy decision for me to make.

The greatest professional honor of my lifetime has been serving my alma mater for over 20 years as a coach and administrator. I have often said that what makes GW great is that it attracts the best humans from all over the globe who are drawn to our campus with the aspiration to change the world. I could not have asked for better people to work with throughout my tenure. I am so incredibly grateful for you. Your commitment to helping our students and coaches provides fuel for me, and honestly, it is this fuel which is launching me into my next chapter.

The macro issues straining college athletics need attention, and I found it increasingly more challenging to work on these macro issues from my chair. Later this summer, I will be joining the Pictor Group as a consultant. They are leaders in the industry tackling the most pressing micro and macro issues on our campuses. I look forward to joining this group of industry leaders who are working to find the right path forward for all of our current and future college athletes.

As for the future of GW Athletics, I have never been more certain of the leadership of our university. From our Trustees to our beloved new president to our colleagues across campus, we have alignment and strength. GW Athletics is positioned well to continue to be the most visible display of discipline and excellence for the university. I hope you remain encouraged and optimistic about supporting the university, our department and our co

We had great student attendance early in the season and it will be great again this semester if we keep winning.
Sustained success is what makes the difference.
And building the new Practice Facility in Smith Center shows a strong commitment to hoops by the new administration.
