I guess you agree with Rising that coaches are unnecessary-- only money. If that's so, we are doomed! By the way, it appears that many on this Board do not hold Caputo responsible for any of the collapse of this team in the last 15 games. Excuses, excuses, excuses! Give me a break.

Rising: Again do you really think that Duqesne had tons of NIL money to throw at its players after not being in the Big Dance for 55 years! You seem to suggest that money is 95% of the equation and coaching is 5%. Maybe we should put the money we pay our coaches into our NIL program.

Coaching is way overrated! With the overall quality of recruits GW has always had--I've been following the team for 59 years--it needs a terrific coach first and foremost to coach players up. Overall the GW head coaches over the years have for the most part been lacking. I hope Caputo is the guy, but the jury is surely still out.

Rising: Amazing that you haven't said one negative thing about a coach that lost 14 out of the last 15 games! Again if it's all about NIL money, maybe we should scrap the progam altogether! By the way, I would be surprised if a team like Duquesne-- which hasn't won in the big dance in 54 years-- is loaded with NIL money, Also GW at the moment isn't rising. .

A follow up. If the NIL money gap makes it impossible for us to compete, maybe we should give up the program and just focus on intramurals.

GWRising: If you think those problems are enough to explain losing 14 out of 15, you don't expect much at all from the coach. In fact, all you have done is make excuses for him. You are the one that must have missed all the second half games.because I thought we were watching the movie "Groundhog Day" on a basketball court!

Obviously, Caputo took too many chances this season in bringing in new players. Zamoku-Weluch Ume and Benny Schroeder were too raw to really contribute. Antoine Smith mostly fouled our opponents. Stretch got off to a fine start and then was intimidated once league games began.Coach also should have paid more attention to the fact that he barely played at Auburn and scored literally nothing.Obviously, Garrett Johnson was a health gamble and we can only hope that he is able to contribute next season and beyond. Keegan Harvey is another example of the kind of big man we too often bring in--he couldn't even get in the game when the team was down 40 in the first half against LaSalle or St. Joes. It's great that Buchanan is coming back and we can only hope that Autry and Hutchinson also return. Coach has to do a much better job with transfers and recruits for next season---no easy task considering the way the second half of the season went. Also, all the coaches need to improve in their jobs--literally no significant adjustments were made during the final 15 games of the season! Finally II'm tired of hearing that we can't recruit quality big men. Literally every team we played this season--large or small--had better big men than we did.

Thank God this season is over! 1-14 in the final 15 games. We need to be looking for a new coach--injuries alone can't explain this disgraceful finish!

The biggest concern now is how do we keep the young players from bolting after this disastrous season. As for Johnson, the assistant coach at the last President's Club lunch told me point blank that Johnson's hip wasn't the reason he wasn't playing. However, the announcers today said that it was. The bad news never ends.

Why is Keegan Harvey missing in action? Down 40 points in the first half against Mason and he still sits on the bench. Considering how poorly everyone else on the roster has been playing over the last 7 games, thias makes no sense to me. Hell at 6'11" he might even get a rebound or two.

We were told that Johnson was "sick" for the last game. That's all we know. Hopefully he'll be back today--we need him!

Can't for the life of me understand why Coach allows his players to do whatever they want to do without any accountability. One-on-one offense, few or no apparent designed plays, heaving 3s even though the guys aren't making them, and on and on. Defense needs a lot of work too. It's one thing not to be too harsh with young players. It's another to literally ignore repeated mistakes. Does anyone have an explanation for Caputo's hands off policy?

If we didn't play so poorly, the announcers would have had very little or nothing negative to say. Don't kill the messenger! The players and coaches need to clean up their act if they don't want negative comments made about them.

When is Caputo going to start yelling at these guys? Everyone does want they want to do. They keep jacking up 3s-- sometimes as soon as they get their hands on the ball. Nobody can make shots. Inexplicable!

Coach needs to start getting angry at his players for repeatedly doing dumb things on the court. Bad shot selection, poor passing, too much one-on-one, not extending the defense on opponents 3s, etc. There must be a price to pay for these mistakes, including  the player sitting on the bench for a while. Maybe shaking up the starting five would also help. They've got to get out of this rut and playing Dayton next certainly won't help.

The boys were due for a fall. Same problems keep coming up that they mostly and luckily overcame. Not today. The problems can be summarized as sloppy overall play:  poor 3-point defense, not blocking out on defensive rebounds (we are not a tall team and need to do a much better job), spotty free throw shooting (unlike earlier in the season), poor decision-making with the ball, etc. These things must be corrected if we are to succeed in still-to-come, tough league games. No patsies this year. I know we are very young and inexperienced, but we have too many games under our belt now to keep making the same mistakes. Also  when the starters are struggling, coach needs to play Weluch Ume, Schroeder, Smith and even Harvey more. At least in todays' game, Schroeder and Harvey made their free throws--something the team has been struggling with lately.

Nice win and I don't want to be a stick in the mud, but this team is still much too sloppy! Not slowing the ball down when necessary, too many turnovers and bad decisions with the ball, not blocking out on defensive rebounds (except for Stretch taller teams are hurting us), not extending out defensively against 3-point shooters, etc. If it hadn't been for Stretch, Mason's poor play, and our free throw shooting the outcome of the game, in my opinion, would have been in doubt.14-3 is certainly terrific, but we need to correct these problems or we will struggle as the season progresses. Last, I'd like to see Caputo yell at his players once in a while as the message often doesn't seem to be getting through.
