I said I would drop in on occasion. This topic interests me enough to throw in my two cents.
Given the NIL landscape as it stands right now I don’t see GW Basketball sustaining a program
that is meaningful nationally.Just won’t happen any time soon unless some regulations are
implemented.Even then with immediate transfers the whole enterprise of putting together a
consistent product is impossible.Call me stupid-As Joel says -are academics are not great. Our team is not good..GW is on the skids.Time to drop down conferences or D2 or D3 and focus on academics.I don’t know about the rest of you -but for me it would be nice to say I went here and feel proud of my association with
the school.Let’s be great at something!!Know when to “fold them”.I don’t believe my take will be actually
implemented -but this Is how I think and feel.

It’s not really about Few -it’s about the poster-and in addition this coach has never won the big one even with all his great teams. You are being way too rational DC Native!!!

I forgot to mention how much I’ve enjoyed being part of this community. Some really fine people on the
Board.I’ve been impressed with the knowledge imparted here.I’ve learned so much about the game from all of you.Special shout outs to LSF-Mayhem-Rising and of course, the master-DMVpiranha.

I can’t believe I’m saying this-I believe I’m done with GW Basketball-and college ball in general.
I’ve followed Bball since I was a child in Philly in the 50’s.The Big Five was my focus-but I was in love with the
game-and some players were my heroes. The game has changed so much since then-as has the world-but in most cases I’ve adjusted -as we all must. However,I’ve come to the conclusion that with the NIL nonsense
college sports for me has become a bridge too far.I’ll dip into the board on occasion-but the thrill is gone-
and I really don’t care anymore how the team is doing.I wish them well.

Beautifully written post Mayhem.I spent many a day and or night reading SI from cover to cover. All the information a sports fan needed delivered in the classiest prose.Progress often entails mourning.
I hate it.

Crawford 65-66.LSF-so pissed off I missed the co-ed transition.If memory serves(it often doesn’t these
days) we were “allowed “ to have women in our rooms from noon till five -with the door open-on
Sundays!

Is it fair to say we have no idea how this team will do in conference play?I do love all the speculation-always
interesting to read others expectations, wishes.I do trust that CC will do the best he can-other than that I’m
ready for any eventuality.

Thank you for the update Rising.I really appreciate you being all over this story.I concur totally with
your thoughts and feelings on this outrageous behavior of a portion of our student body.I’m glad some
action has finally been taken by the administration. Our world has been turned upside down Rising-Thanks again for trying to turn it right side up!

AT Hiker -you said it better than I could. Caputo has been a great hire.We need to keep him here as long
as possible.

When I was a young therapist in training I had a supervisor much like Knight.I owe him a lot.
I learned a great deal from him.I also knew I would never comport myself like he did.A great teacher-but
not a great man.The truth is it's possible to be both. The archetype of the authoritarian "father" coach
that is so prevalent in our culture has somewhat diminished but is still hardwired in the male psyche.
I posit that it is posisible to be assertive and kind.Caputo may be that type of coach.-time will tell.

GWmayhem-great post.As to your last point -The old dictum “follow the money” is most likely what is going
on here.Universities always deny that these “donations” influence their policy positions and decision
making.Absolute nonsense. They can even convince themselves that this collusion helps all their students
including Jewish students have a more successful college experience.

A lot of feelings about this-obviously.Frankly I’m still processing all the information that’s being thrown at all of us.More later when I get my shit together. For now I want to thank Mayhem and especially Rising for getting
the ball rolling on this issue .Big props to Rising.

Not sure I follow all this “socialism” tit for tat-but on almost every other point I totally agree with Rising.
For me this NIL stuff is already a bridge too far.Maybe I’m not a nice person-but for me a full scholarship
Is an equitable trade off for the student -athletes labor.Frankly I don’t care how much money the
institutions make -as long as they use it wisely. If a student -athlete  comes here without a "free education"
that is their choice Danjsport.

I’m not sure I can add anything of value to this discussion other than I never wanted and rarely got involved
with “Life Goals” as opposed to “Therapy Goals”.Transferring is a life goal -learning to deal with your anxiety
is a therapy goal.Learning to self-soothe is a profound accomplishment for many of us-including me.
Based on what is publicly known at this time it seems to me Joe would benefit from "seeing " someone
twice a week.
