I hope Castro has a great pro career (and really wish he still had a year more to play for GW) but I will be the one to say it: Castro does not have the defensive footwork to play in the NBA. I hope I am wrong, but he was pushed around too much underneath, his monster block and rebound numbers more the product of his massive reach than his body placement. Add to that his limited shooting range and average speed and I just don´t see a team taking a chance on him, unless as a low-budget project that they figure might work out or might just fill a D-League spot. A league like Italy or Spain might be a better fit for him to shine in.
I hope I am wrong and prove why I am an "armchair quaterback" instead of a staff scout for an NBA squad.
I had a French basketball journalist reach out to me towards the end of the season with a bunch of questions about Castro saying he thinks he'd be a good fit in the French league. I'm far from an expert on French basketball but I'd love to see him in one of those European leagues (although it would obviously be great to see him in the NBA)

John Krikorian (D3 Christopher Newport head coach who led them to a national championship and 4 Final Fours) just took a job as an assistant at Elon. I would have loved to bring him in

Murray State is in the Missouri Valley Conference as of the 22/23 season. In their first year under a new coach last year, they finished in fifth and made it to the NIT. Definitely a step down from the A10 in caliber but he'll get the opportunity to be more of the main guy while making more money. Good for him. I hope he enjoys living in Murray, Kentucky. I hear it's the Paris, France of southwest Kentucky.

Riley told us he doesn't know which schools are interested in which players since they often only share info with him once they're committed and he is tracking 350+ schools portal activity.
Apparently Assui failed the English test international students are required to take to be admitted to GW.

Chaudhri going to Wake Forest is bizarre to me. Does anyone know anything about this tweet saying that Dylan James is flipping his commitment from GW to George Mason?
BREAKING: On3’s
@JamieShaw5
has logged an expert prediction for 6’9 PF Dylan James ✍️
Georgia ➡️ George Washington ➡️ George Mason
The #251 overall transfer and current GW commit averaged 4.5 PPG & 3.8 RPG in just 15 min/g this season, shooting 46% from the field.

I believe Vincent Chaudhri is now in the portal.
So to recap at this point:
Aranguren
Arceneaux
Witherspoon
Kossaras
Rougier-Roane
N'landau
Now have to address the frontcourt in a big way.
This is 6 players and we have 15 scholarships so there should be 9 remaining now that Chaudhri is in the portal and Assui is not coming (are we ever going to get confirmation of that? News he's going elsewhere?)

Trey Moss is transferring to La Salle. Announced by his agency
| GW Women's Hoops » A10 Portal News » 4/06/2026 5:32 pm |
Much appreciated. I made a document to track the happenings of the offseason, including incoming and outgoing players and coaches:
As I was making this I noticed that assistant Sherill Baker is no longer listed on the website. I'm assuming this means she's taking another job but if anyone has any insight, let me know. If there's anything else I can do to improve the document (whether it's information, stylistic, or otherwise) I am all ears!

Payton Dulin and Silvia Gonzalez have entered the transfer portal as well. That means no one from this year's freshman class remains.
Where did you see that Dulin entered the portal? I can't find anything about it

Rumor is the elder Autry is taking a position as an assistant at UVA. The assumption is that Trey will follow his dad there (and likely come off the bench for a tournament team). It is important to note that Trey was adamant about not wanting to play for his dad when he came to GW, although that could be different now that he's an assistant rather than the head coach.

I'll am very sad to see Trey go. I really grew to love watching him play and I think he cared deeply about GW and his teammates, which is really all you can ask for. He was responsible for some big moments the last few years and I hope those are remembered fondly even if this year's team didn't have the success we were hoping for. I will be rooting hard for him wherever he ends up and hope he finds a good role on a tournament team.
As for Bubu, I can't say I'm shocked but it's disappointing that he didn't pan out. Playing for three schools in four years remains insane to me on so many levels. I recognize that's the nature of this sport now but I just don't see why anyone would want to play for three different coaches on three different teams in three different cities at three different schools in the span of four years... All that change in such a short period seems terrible to me. Either way I wish him the best, presumably at a lower level than the A10

Here is this year's offseason tracker document:
It has info about current players/coaches along with potential additions and guys GW has reported interest in. Please let me know if I am missing any information or if there's anything I should know to improve the document.

Two other guys who've caught my eye are Jordan Elerbee from Florida Gulf Coast and Garrett Sundra from Notre Dame. Elerbee went to St Joe's Prep in Philly and Sundra (who we offered early in Caputo's tenure) went to Paul VI.

I went on a New Mexico basketball podcast to preview tomorrow's game. We talked more about GW than New Mexico but there was some good info in there for GW fans looking to learn about the Lobos. Also info for anyone looking to buy a Ford in Albuquerque, I guess...
