This team is missing a true backup point guard.  Give me Bernard Barrow playing 8 minutes a game.

Tyler Betsey committed to BYU.

Possible but not yet likely. We are also close to getting a shooter forward from ACC.

Hmmm. Appreciate the hint. Only names I can think of that fit that description are:

1) Tyler Betsey from Syracuse (could make sense given the Autry/Caputo connection)

2) Timo Malovec from Miami. Very good international player. Miami connection.

3) Sam Walters, SMU (previously Michigan and Bama). This guy looked like a future star as a freshman role player at Bama, but it hasn’t quite come together as a bench player at three P4 teams. Maybe he wants to go a little lower to hopefully stsrt? No particular reason to think he would be interested or that we’d be connected to him.

4 Jason Asemota, BC - I don’t know anything about him, only played a few games as a freshman. Seems to be a shooting forward.

5) Stanford guys - Stanford has multiple shooter forwards, but I don’t know who is in the portal or any teams any would make sense.

And I’m sure there are others I’m not thinking of, don’t know that they are in the portal, or didn’t consider a shooter F.

If I were a betting man, I’d bet the field over the names I listed above.

If that's true and he wants to spend his final year playing for his old man with a chance to win the ACC and make a run in the NCAA tournament, its hard to blame him.  He's been here for three years, so there is a chance he may also already have his degree, and if that's the case I almost see no reason to stay.  I wish him best of luck in the future.

He does work at GW,  He's Director of Alumni Engagement in the Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.  I think his basketball days may be done.

If you watched Syracuse play at all this year, you would have seen that Red Autry was somehow a worse X and O coach than CC.  Not sure he'd be much help.

I said at the time I didn’t like the extension and my fears have come true.  CC did a good job of getting the team back to no longer being a joke, so he should get some credit for that.  However, this year clearly shows he’s not the guy that could complete for an A-10 title (regular season or tournament).  Sadly, with the extension we’ll be stuck with this for a few more years.  Not sure it matters, this administration has consistently proved so incompetent that I doubt they’ll get the next hire right either.

There has been a lot talk about the team running out of gas.  This made me wonder about some of the guys we haven't heard much from. Seems like a couple minutes from them may have helped the team stay a little fresher.

Is Moss still injured?  Are we just holding him our the whole season.
What's up with Ty Bevins?  Doesn't look like he's played since the OOC schedule.  Is he hurt, or that a couches decision?
What's up with the two freshmen?  My guess is that they both agree to be redshirted this year like Christian Jones as a few years back.  How do the redshirt rules work in basketball?  Could they play in a couple games and keep their redshirt (like in football), or do they have to set out the whole year?

He doesn't have to figure it out soon.  We extended his contract at the beginning of the year for some reason.  Now, we are probably stuck in a weird window of mediocrity.  His record will be too good for this administration to ever fire him, but not good enough to ever really contend for a NCAA tournament spot.  We hired our very own Dave Paulsen, but unlike Mason we don't have a Tony Skinn to hire to get us out of that mess.

1-8.  We beat South Florida by like 5.  That is still a crazy stat that I don't think I've ever seen before from a basketball team.

As I've always said, GW never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Also, if I remember correctly the player from Georgetown went to the prep school that Omar did.  Hoya Paranoia indeed.

I don't really love this.  I like Caputo as a coach, but his first two years weren't that great, and last year the 20 win season was the product of a super easy schedule.  I like what I've seen so far this year a lot, but we're only three games in.  I would have loved to see a little more success before extending him.  Considering the number of coaches we've had to pay to not coach here over the past decade, I don't really want to see us make the same mistakes again.

I have no knowledge at all of who the AAC team is, but i would love for it to be Temple for old times sake.  As someone at GW in the late 90s, I would love to see those teams play again like they did back in my day.

The current system is 100% skewed against the non p-5 schools, but I don't believe that the A-10 has to be a one bid league, even in this system.  The MWC got 4 bids last year, and that is no better a conference than the A-10.  The A-10 has a problem with the teams that play good schedules having some bad losses.  I think if that got corrected, more teams would have been in a discussion for an at-large.  its not fair or easy, I wouldn't say its impossible.

We are never going to get to play P4 teams to get Quad 1 games.  The system isn't set up for that anymore (God I miss the old BB&T where you had a shot at two P4 games).  What I don't understand is that instead of that, why we don't go barnstorming and play a bunch of decent non-P4 away games to build up a resume full of P2 games.  All they need to be is ranked 75-135 for road games.  Here are some teams that fall into that category based on Torvik's projections?  You telling me you can't get away games with these teams, or potential home and homes?

Santa Clara
Grand Canyon
Yale
North Texas
Colorado State
Liberty
Illinois State
Northern Iowa
Akron
Miami OH
Tulane
 UNC Wilmington
Wichita St
Drake
James Madison

These teams are all likely Quad 2 away games, and if they have a good year, Quad P2 home games.  I think if you fill up on these games, you get an interesting schedule that people will want to buy into and will get you more reward than just beating a bunch of P4 teams at home.

Jonathan Davis comes to mind.  Also, what was the name of that kid from Texas I think who got blown up here as supposed being the next great thing by some psycho supporter.  Matt Abbirton?  Matt Attribon?  It was Matt something.

Not much of a stat stuffer, but I would go with Matt Hart.  Dude was a key contributor on one very good team, and one team that should have been good but underachieved due to not great coaching.  This guy came to us from the D3 ranks, but you wouldn't know it.

We are still a long ways until the start of the season, but I wanted to pass on that Bart Torvik has released his current preseasons rankings.  GW is currently coming in as the #52 team in the country.  We are #37 in adjusted offensive efficiency and the #94 in adjusted defensive efficiency.  This doesn't mean much this far out, but it looks like the stat nerds see good things for GW this season.

If this was all really about Anti-Semetism, then why does the demand letter to Harvard require the discontinuation of DEI programs, "Merit Based" hiring and admission reforms, and viewpoint diversity?   Please let me what that has to do with Anti-Semetism.   Are you saying the unqualified minorities Harvard is supposedly hiring or admitting are all anti-Semites?  Or, could it be that the claims of Anti-Semetism are just the front to attack DEI policies, which the administration has done across the board.

I hate the anti-semitism present on college campuses today and how it has been prevalent in the protests on Isreal's actions in Gaza.  However, if you think that the Trump administrations actions against Harvard and the other universities has anything to do with anti-semetism, I have some shares of Truth social to sell you. The discussion of anti-semetism is just a cover for the Trump administration to go after another perceived enemy (academic institutions) and trying to get them to act in a manner more consistent with their political philosophy.  They don't really care about anti-semetism, otherwise they would also go after the members of the Alt-Right who also express anti-semeticism.  They just know that they can inflame the passions of good people using this excuse so they can accomplish their real political goals. I'm sad to see that this tactic may actual be effective.

With all the talk of the starters coming back, I just wanna say how proud I am of Trey Moss for coming back.  This is a guy who saw his PT fall off a cliff when we transitioned from non-Conference to A-10 player.  Today, a lot of players would transfer after that type of adversity.  I am so happy he has the toughness to stick around continue his basketball career at GW.  I think he's got a great chance to be a contributor on what is shaping up to be a pretty good team.
