GW Men's Hoops » 2023-24 Schedule » 8/07/2023 6:05 pm |
Sorry I’ve been gone for a bit—-some health issues came up and my mind has been elsewhere
This OOC is disgusting but if that’s CC plan that’s his plan and he’s the coach so I’m willing to see it through this year without a peep. Hoping this is a one time thing and we can get over 10 schools I’ve heard of or knew were D1 next year. My only real worry for the here and now besides how bad those lower schools can drag your resume come March is that a soft beginning chunk won’t prepare us for A10 play against, at least compared to most of these schools, much better teams. But hey, some mentioned getting student interest back up with some wins and gaining confidence and both are very possible as well. But yeah, fingers crossed

Side note—-does anyone else find it hilarious that ESPN cares so little about GW these days that they haven’t even changed the name despite having an entire article about the name change attached to the team home page. Lol wow.
GW Men's Hoops » 2023-24 Schedule » 7/20/2023 8:17 pm |
Would be nice to get the schedules they had a few years ago. Seeing the team go to cali and lose to 3 teams I didn’t know existed last year was a bit demoralizing

I’m an old man before I even hit 30. Damn. They warned me this would happen if I didn’t eat my flintstones gummies every morning!
GW Men's Hoops » GW New Moniker Discussion » 5/26/2023 5:52 pm |
Also I’m not gonna go too far into it since it brings out the worst in this board but given the last decade of lawsuits, not protecting students (yeah I’m going there, bite me), discrimination (including ACTIVE cases!), racism (that athlete I think also sued), lying about educational achievements (what a fun article to wake up to), and a wild story involving an “ex terrorist” and blow, this “hey, look how great we are” pat on the back by the University is eye rolling and changing this nickname is inconsequential (at the end of the day WHO CARES) but not the change they should probably think about starting with.
GW Men's Hoops » GW New Moniker Discussion » 5/26/2023 5:47 pm |
Woah, hope nobody took what I said as disparaging anyone. Just pointing out that this small group that has lead to this change are A) not a demographic that would be negatively affected by the perceived offense and B) that yes, this “woke” (or whatever you’d like to call it if that’s too harsh of a word) trend of changing such ridiculous things for sake of “see. We are allies” is detrimental to actual movements fighting actual causes. Nobody cares about an M&M or Colonials. Real progress was changing our forts from the names of traitors who fought on the side of oppression and bondage. This here? This is a bunch of rich progressive kids who didn’t get enough attention that week.
GW Men's Hoops » GW New Moniker Discussion » 5/25/2023 6:36 pm |
Also I’d pay money for the racial demographics of those who protested the name. Cause my next paycheck says they were all lily white, progressive, rich, and have never heard the word no before. Hot take I know! This is such a virtue signaling move man
GW Men's Hoops » GW New Moniker Discussion » 5/25/2023 6:33 pm |
Half of those same kids who were apparently so butt hurt over colonials probably couldn’t spell this new name. Revolutionaries lmaooooo so basically the colonials!

Yeah the first week I stopped by a casino and saw hundreds of people around the sports book. Went to that same spot same time the second week and I don’t even think a hundred people were there. This week there might be less.

I actually got into the post game celebration on that rooftop bar. Got to celebrate with some of the parents and coaches. Was a hell of a night. SD ST and Valpo had no idea what was coming their way! Good damn times man.

NIT champs! I know this thread is bound to go off the rails and turn into a real Charlie Foxtrot but it was a fond memory of mine to go to the Mecca with a bunch of my family members and root for the team in a not so close victory over a good Valpo team.

Great Win for Willard and the Terps but I don’t see them coming close to toppling Bama, who is the favorite to win it all this year. Those 3s would have to be DROPPING and a lot of luck would have to be there. But that would be a FUN upset if they did. One can dream…

Everyone from Boeheim on up the chain at Syracuse knew about the Bernie Fine situation. If not, it's part of their job description to know and can't claim ignorance as a defense.
Just as Maltzman, Knapp and company knew about our own sexual predator Nero and turned a blind eye towards it until GW was exposed by a recruit's parent and they finally excised him.
Pretty familiar with the facts in both situations. The GW case was far worse from this standpoint. The information was given to Maltzman and Knapp. They chose to ignore it. In the case of Syracuse Admin., no information was brought to the Syracuse Admin. until the guy went public in the media years later. Also, two of the complainants later recanted their claims against Fine saying they made them up. The state investigation resulted in no charges because the statute of limitations had run. There was a separate federal investigation and no charges were brought against Fine.
I am not defending Fine here by any stretch. I have no idea whether he was guilty or not. But to say that Boeheim was complicit in something that may or may not have happened is a stretch.
I’m more than willing to admit I was wrong. Have no insider info on that whole situation so I didn’t know all of that

So there goes the first chip, as Boeheim is forced out (he made it quite clear the school is forcing him out he's not "retiring" just like with Mike Brey.)
After nearly 50 and 20+ years both guys deserved better, but it is a results business and "what did you do for me today" world
Boeheim deserved better? How so? Dude is the biggest a55hole in sports. Paid players. Killed someone and had it covered up. Belittles SU student reporters. One of college basketball's biggest whiners. Thank God SU finally grew some spine and fired him.
You forgot his assistant coach was a sexual predator and he probably helped cover that up for a while

Just an ammendum, we had 5 conference road wins in 15-16 as well. Great analysis and summary of a promising season!
GW Men's Hoops » The Coaching Carousel Thread » 3/09/2023 6:20 am |
Ewing is awful, a move to keep him next season would be basically telling the fanbase the athletics department doesn't give a good damn about winning, success, or anything like that. Plain and simple. Get him out of there. It has been embarrassing to see them play and I am not even a fan!

Idk if that would impact. Lots of moving parts now with the Orange too
