I didn't understand the statement "in front of a packed "Miracle on 22nd Street" crowd. Attendance was a very disappionting 1,869, or to put it another way, the Smith Center was 63% empty. Now that it looks like we have a quality product on the Court, I hope the fanbase returns, because it does not appear to have happened yet.
The majority of the empty seats were on the season ticket side of the court. The Navy seats section was also empty. The students have been supportive thus far.

Reminder that Towson's head coach is a former GWU women's basketball assistant coach - Laura Harper - under Jen Rizzotti. Her dad was a former GW men's basketball player - Havriland Harper.

Reminder, before they lost last year to FDU in the NCAAs, they lost the year before to St. Peter's.

As a parent/family member giving advice to a student athlete:
1. Georgetown, with it's outstanding academics, alumni base, job opportunities once bball is over, location, conference, coach (Cooley), etc.
or
2. GW - only thing that can match is location. All other factors fail to match up.
Not a difficult decision. While your point is relevant, for a 1 year rental I don't think this matters as much. Keithgreene has it right, Georgetown cut a bigger check for his services.
Let's give Cooley some credit for out-recruiting CC. I wonder how Maximus feels about this.

I think the best team in our league won the tournament and will represent the conference in the Big Dance.

The Smitty will be relatively full, but my guess is 60% by VCU fans.

GW Men's Hoops » What Prompted This? » 2/15/2023 4:33 pm |
Something transpired during the Richmond game with a courtside-seated fan. One of the officials brought a security guard over during a time-out and specifically pointed out this fan. The security guard had a conversation with the fan and that appeared to be the end of it.
I'm not sure if this was the incident that prompted the letter.

Mike and his wife and family are very religious people. Sometimes your religious beliefs can paint your behaviors. I'm not saying that is the case, just saying it is possible. I've heard from others over the years that Mike had a tendency to press his religious beliefs onto others. He never did it with me, so I can't say that is factual.

One day we all need to sit down over drinks and hash through this. The author of the Deadspin article is a friend of mine and we have had SEVERAL discussions about the article itself, not the facts or circumstances. I find it incredulous that Mike Lonergan brought NOTHING on himself through his behaviors and his ideologies.
I loved him as a coach.

Tell me Skittles, from your perspective, Mike Lonergan did absolutely nothing wrong and deserved absolutely none of the negative repercussions? Just want to get you on the record about your perspective.
My perspective is that BOTH acted inappropriately in some ways - though we don't know the full story - but I'm not sure you agree with my perspective.
Trying to be civil here. Please answer civilly.

Keithgreene stop being a Nero apologist. I have given more money to GW and the hoops program that I care to think about. We all have a voice and can have our opinions.
Nero literally ruined this program single handedly. Here we are almost 7 years later and he's still the topic of conversation. This discussion will stop only when our program is brought back from the hell hole and we start to win again (and when he stops making the news). I said long ago it would take a decade. Time is proving me right.
You certainly put the double-ess in a-double-ess-hole!

Enough already. Let's bury the Lonergan-Nero story line and focus on the future. Let the EEOC complaint play out and then you can make any comment you want. EEOC investigations are done at quite a different level than a Deadspin article.
