CC came about as close as close to the line as he could in criticizing the refs in the press conference on this point.

First possession he was in the game was a drawn up 3 for him which he hit. CC mentioned after last game that the guards aren't used to playing with a pick-and-pop big man so they weren't looking for him. I'd expect him to get more looks moving forward.
I somehow completely forgot about that Hansen 3. More of that please

Happy with the win and also noted many of the positives some of you have as well:
- FT shooting was off the charts
- They didn't put their heads down when NC A&T went on a run and kept it close
- 11 steals, most of which seemed to be in the first half
Other Observations:
- This team just can't shoot the ball from range. We have yet to see a consistent 3-point threat emerge with Garrett Johnson being out for the year. As noted above, teams are going to pack the paint and force us to win by the 3.
- Maybe I'm wrong but it seemed like DBJ got hacked a bunch and never got the calls. Should have gone to the line way more than he did
- Castro was dominant in the 1st half but seemed to disappear in the 2nd. Not sure if that was due to some minor foul trouble or NC A&T focusing on him more. Still, his steal/spin move dunk was amazing to see. I don't think we've had a big like him since Zeke Armwood. Such a breath of fresh air
- Again, so much props to the guys for their performance at the FT line. Very impressive to see that
- NC A&T hit some ridiculous shots that rarely go in. Props to them for that but this came could have easily been a 10-12 point win.
- I'm still not quite sure what the coaching staff is planning on doing with Hansen. He was billed as a stretch 4 but I'm not sure he's taken a jumper all year. I'd like to see him in a 5-out set, see if he can make 1 or 2 a game, and make more room for Darren to get downhill.
All in all another win in the books. Looking forward to the game on Monday.

Congratulations to JJ and the Liberty for winning their first WNBA title!
She was a vital part of their run and averaged 17.8ppg, 7.6 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in the best of 5 finals.
JJ also awarded finals MVP! What a career for her.

GW Men's Hoops » Welcome Dayan Nessah! » 8/02/2024 3:57 pm |
Dayan played a major part in Switzerland's comeback in the 4th quarter. Started down by 16 and eventually cut it to 4 with a couple of minutes left. The Swiss had a hard time getting it done from deep (they did better in the 4th) which really hurt their chances.
Dayan ended with:
Points - 26 points (47% FG, 7/11 from two, 2/8 from range, 6/12 from FT)
Rebounds - 6 (including a key offensive board after a missed FT which led to another foul and cut the lead to 4 with a couple of minutes left)
Assists - 2
Steals - 5
TOs - 5
Though he struggled from range he did make some nice layups through contact and played some good defense (from what I saw). Based solely on this game he doens't take many mid-range shots (has anyone seen otherwise?). Hoping he can get those FT and 3-point numbers up (he had some good games in both categories in this tournament). Excited to see him play next season.

So happy he was able to overcome his injury so he could make his Olympics debut. Had a great first half but a relatively quiet second half. Like DMV said, Japan didn't have much of a chance against Germany but still a good showing from them.

George Mason may have the inside track on this one given Tony Skinn's connection at UMD.
We've reached out and the tweet that mentions us doesn't mention Mason.
