Regretting having sacrificed my evening to this.

JF - I was just about to say, are the walk-ons in the game? I thought I was taking crazy pills. The looks like the starters are back in now, but seriously, WTF is that? Was that supposed to be motivation? That stretch put the game out of reach.

Benching all the starters seems to have worked, but its too little too late.

Actually, the game was out of reach. Think it was the ML prep media timeout strategy.
We got some confidence.
Time for a miraculous comeback after digging a huge hole.

Nice little run getting in transition. Won’t be enough time, though. Too bad we couldn’t take it to them sometime in the first 33 minutes instead of playing on our heels.

What a tough shot by Anosike to stop the run. Our defense was excellent on that possession, but he hit a very low % shot.

Holy crap! A last opportunity ruined by missing the open man,and a series of mistakes.

Brutal game for Bam. Not a very good one for Adams either.
Seems like we will go as far as those two take us.
JC needs to find a way to design a more efficient offense that generates better shots than we are getting.

Would we be in any different position if this were year 6 of Mojo?
Losing to crappy WC schools by 20 and playing in some fake MTE without announcers?
Need to figure out how to recapture that UMD feeling FAST

I thought MoJo was a poor game time coach. JC says hold my beer. The individual players are so much better than the results we are seeing.

Right now our offense is averaging fewer points than the 9-24 team.

It's obvious JC can't coach. No blocking out, No offensive flow at all, no plays. He just keeps losing games and it's a fluke when he wins. The facts says he can't win at GW. I have not seen any semblance of a offensive plan in a few years. No motion offense that wins games. No "in game" sense. Players just standing around like spectators. Sad.

Fair to say we aren't hitting the boards.

Some random thoughts, as Wisconsin Colonial and I just returned from the game. The rebounding was again atrocious. Guess I didn't have to tell anybody that. What is especially frustrating was Fullerton was smaller than we were. We don't box out and we don't put bodies on the other team. They just fly around us and rebound, repeatedly beating us to the ball. Brown had a very nice offensive game, however he was approximately 55 pounds heavier than Fullerton's Center. How then can he play 32 minutes and finish with zero defensive rebounds. Our second best rebounder was Freeman with 7. (Lindo had 8). They just don't know how to rebound. Or lack the desire to do so. Speaking of Brown, given his height and weight advantage, he was virtually unstoppable down low, but that play was rarely run for him. Rather, he is up at the top of the key, receives the pass, maybe dribbles a couple of times and looks to pass to one of the scorers on the team. Or he is setting an (ineffective) high pick. If we could have gotten him the ball in the low post more often, he could have been our leading scorer. Someone tell me what Adams brings to the team? He did have 4 assists this game, but he is basically a scorer who doesn't score...or do much of anything else. And what the hell was Lindo still doing in the game with 2 fouls and 35 seconds left in the half, at which time he picked up his third. I will say it was nice to see Christian show a little emotion on the bench. He lit into the team during one time out, but during the next few minutes they were just as bad. It was then that he yanked all starters out of the game, saying words to the effect that this is where you belong the way your playing...on the bench. He was actually yelling at them. But please don't get excited that they cut a 22 point lead down to 7 with about 3 or 4 minutes left. When we started to get close, Fullerton then just stepped it up again, and we were toast. At least this game I can say I saw a competitive 10-12 minutes, which is far more than I can say to UCSD. Celebrities in the crowd included Aaron Ware and Mike Brown, who supposedly drove from Vegas to watch the game. Nice to see Mike. And Aaron. And KD San Diego. And in a blast from the past, one of the alumni hostesses for the event was our old board friend Luna Chick. At least we should have an easy win on Friday vs. UMass Lowell. What's that? Who did you say they beat this season already? See you Friday at the Smitty.

Don't forget...for the 4th game in a row, we were badly outplayed in the second half.

Big man for St. Francis makes the layup in the final seconds of the game and we're 0-4!

Well, I have said it before and I will say it again... no halftime adjustments. I am no HOFer but I believe that is coaching.

Just watched the game this morning and after three games--the two biggest issues appear to be shooting and coaching. This team really doesn't have any scorers other than Bishop, who seems to be struggling unless the ball is in his hands 96% of each possession.
That said, they seem to start with a plan on offense with movement and touches, but the shot selection is often poor and any offensive scheme quickly breaks down into one-on-one play. That there has been seemingly zero improvement in boxing out on the defensive boards drives me nuts. No really point in playing (ahem) good perimeter defense if so many misses are followed with simple put backs. Again, it's early, but very disappointed so far.

Many said during the off season that the upgrade in talent was apparent and this season was going to boil down to whether this team could be coached and subsequently execute consistently. In other words, would it be able to learn to play cohesively. While we have only played four games, the fact of the matter is that every school had portions of the spring and essentially all summer to figure things out.
What's mystifying is that the team shows an occasional ability to look the part. Think back to last year's Rhode Island game. It wasn't just that GW blew out a decent team, it was how they did it. They shared the ball. They didn't drain the shot clock. There wasn't an abundance of one-on-one play.
This year's team was fired up to play Maryland for obvious reasons. While there was an overreliance on Joe early and James late, not necessarily a bad thing since both were hot at those times, the fact is that GW looked far more like a TEAM in that game than in any other game this season. These 2 California games were like watching a trainwreck. One guy goes one on one (or worse) and misses while 4 guys stand around with none of them daring to go for an offensive rebound. No plays (or badly executed ones, I suppose), no semblance of a real offense. Even those who play pickup ball realize that players are far more vested when the team plays like a team, when everyone touches the ball, etc. as opposed to playing with a ball-hog who is taking most of the shots irrespective of whether they are good looks or not.
No, I am not calling for JC's job despite what one poster may have to say on the subject (interesting to read how many people are criticizing JC and yet this poster, not once, refers to any of them as coach-killers or accuses them of trying to get the coach fired, but perhaps this is for another day). However, I am perplexed like many of you. Why does this keep happening in the much softer OOC games? Why are we consistently outplayed immediately after halftime? Why do JC teams give the occasional masterful performance where they do so many things right, yet can not begin to come close to achieving this with any consistency whatsoever?
There's no pressure to go dancing or play in a postseason tournament. The only pressure is to get notably better. Thus far, the grade is a D- when it comes to improvement. And I'm sure some of you feel I am being generous with that grade.
