Hobbs did recruit some talent from Philadelphia(Omar Williams, Maureece Rice, Tamal Forchion) when he was at GW, so he is familiar with the high school talent there.
I believe Tamal was TP's recruit.

Per @AdamZagoria, Karl Hobbs is no longer in the running for the head coaching job at La Salle

This makes me wonder if having been GW´s head coach is a c.v. killer. Jarvis had short-lived modest (at best) success after leaving GW, and somehow Penders found employment after getting escorted off campus by security, but otherwise former coaches never return to the collegiate head coaching ranks (GG? Keuster?). I though KH would have been able to point to three consecutive banners and get himself a gig. Is he asking for too much money or holding the title of "former GW head coach" an albatross? OK, I get that GG, Keuster and ML did not exactly have tenures that made them employable after GW, but still.

Keuster went on to become an NBA head coach, so I don’t think your theory holds water.
Hobbs was probably done in by his own negativity.
MoJo is a top assistant at Richmond now, which is probably ahead of where he would have been had he never been prematurely thrust into the head coaching job.
JC will be a good fit at a lower level and I’m guessing have a long, successful career.
Jarvis did make an elite 8 and win the NIT (plus a big East tourney). As an aside, since the Fab 5 had their season results vacated due to recruiting violations, does that mean the sweet 16 never actually lost in the tourney?

La Salle’s hiring Fran Dunphy.
Seems like the A10 is stacked coaching-wise top to bottom.
Edit: Forgot about Lange at SJU. He’s not part of the A10 being “stacked”

With Jay Wright retiring, all indications are that Fordham's Kyle Neptune will be announced as the replacement. Tough loss for Fordham who for once looked like they had a good coach.
I could see Hobbs being an option there. Could they somehow entice Grasso to come back?

Brutal luck for Fordham. Neptune had them playing FAR beyond their talent level.
