Yuta, Brooklyn Net, NBA champion?

Yuta played for The Nets last night and looked good in his minutes.

Very cool to see him on a court with Durant and Kyrie.

Always great to see a GW player in the NBA, Mike Hall, Pops, TC, Pato, all had short stints in the NBA, parts of a season or 2.

Yuta looks like he's carving out a longer NBA career, the longest since Yinka??  (who played 4 seasons, coincidentally also with the Nets)   I think only Mike Brown played more NBA games out of GW.

The Nets with Kyrie Durant Simmons and a loaded supporting cast are a  legit NBA title contender, has any GW player ever got an NBA ring??

Re: Yuta, Brooklyn Net, NBA champion?

According to basketball-reference.com, Yinka played 110 games, Pops 61 and Yuta 121 (and counting).  Other notables are Cavs at 50 and Brownie the king at 626.

Here is the whole GW mens and women's list.

Wow, so Yuta has already surpassed Yinka in games played.

Long way to go to catch The King!   hopefully he becomes (I think this is correct?) the first GW alum to win an NBA title!

Thanks for the reminder GW69. I know I am trying really hard to follow your advice! A few others should also try it.

Yuta, on ESPN again tonight
Big plus of being on a New York contender team he'll be on National TV a lot

Drilled a 3 his first possession of the game.

Re: Yuta, Brooklyn Net, NBA champion?

Excellent find.
And as long as Brooklyn doesn't do anything crazy before roster deadline--or Yuta's contract
is guaranteed for the year, great news!
Once again, Yuta has earned his spot the hard way by again displaying work and talent to make
an NBA team.

Re: Yuta, Brooklyn Net, NBA champion?

I only watched a few possessions with Yuta on the floor. Defense was definitely the differentiator. He's so good at defending the point and making quick adjustments.

Offensively, he looked like the 4th/5th option

Do we know that he has a guaranteed year deal?

So, Yuta Watanabe is now on a non-guaranteed minimum deal that would become fully guaranteed if he is still on the roster through January 10.

Thanks for the clarification.  So he's got more proving to do but so far so good.

Getting good minute totals in the preseason so that's encouraging

Re: Yuta, Brooklyn Net, NBA champion?

That really is a great post by Yuta.

ESPN tonight, 730. (also ESPN+)   Good news is that Yuta's getting minutes.    So if you tune in, should see him.

The Nets bench is pretty weak so that should bode well for his chances to get more minutes

Re: Yuta, Brooklyn Net, NBA champion?

Yuta and The Nets are on NBA TV right now.

Two Yuta 3s have spurred a Nets comeback, he's +9 on the game, had the best +/- last night on the team too.

Re: Yuta, Brooklyn Net, NBA champion?

I just turned on the Mavs-Nets game and saw that Yuta was playing in the final minutes of a close game. Is he part of the rotation now? I assumed he only got in when the game is a blowout, its good to see him playing meaningful minutes.  He's also in as they start the OT
