Sports Reference only has game logs going back to 2004 so I can't see what Pops, Mike Hall, etc. did as freshman.

The closest stat line from a Freshmen I found was: 
Damian Hollis 18 pts 12 Reb 2 Ast on Mach 3, 2007

Even just having a freshman go for a double-double is rare. 

For double-doubles I see:
Chase Paar improbably did it in back-to-back games in 2019
Jamison Battle in 2019 as well
Collin Smith in 2016
Lasan Kromah in 2010
Damian Hollis in 2007



 

Thanks.  There’s no way any of those guys had 5 assists to go with their double double (maybe Kromah got close?). 

Shawnta Rogers had some huge stat lines, but he’s more likely to have had like 12 assists and 5 boards, rather than the other way around. 

I can’t think of anyone else - Vaughn Jones could fill up a stat sheet, but prob didn’t get enough rebounds as a freshman with Yinka and Bill Brigham dominating the boards.

Maybe Alexander Koul?
