Can Drumgoole stop shooing 3s?

Since the Dayton game, Drumgoole from 3 is an embarrassing:
1-8
1-8
0-10
0-6
0-4
5-11
4-11
0-5
0-6
for a total of 11-69 for a .159 shooting percentage.
And he is only .295 for the season, which we should remember includes our incredibily weak OCC schedule.  And take away the Dayton game and he is shooting .286 from 3.
Both Autry and Jones have shot much better from 3 than Drumgoole, yet Drumgoole has 76 more attempts from 3 than Autry and 104 more than Jones.   And overall Drumgoole has 90 more field goal attempts than any other player on the team.  Please explain why he keeps shooting 3s or why CC lets him keep shooting 3s.  I know water eventually finds its level, but GW is drowning from his 3-pt attempts, not our opponents.

Let's allow Autrey and Jones to shoot more 3s.  CC made a great find in the portal getting Castro. And Hansen has been a fine role player. But it seems CC overrated Drumgoole and Moss (.239 from 3). He had them both in the starting lineup at the begiinnig of the season. They were above average players at William & Mary and Delaware, but it is clear they are below average in the A-10.

No, this is a bad stretch but he shot 37% from 3 last year on 200+ attempts, and 34% the year prior. He's a good (though not great) shooter who's cold right now. As long as he gets good looks he should keep shooting, he's not going to be cold forever. And if we can get him hot at the right time over the next month and during the conference tourney, it could be a game changer.

He should not stop shooting.  He should start shooting less during games when the shots just aren't falling.

Am all for Autry and Jones shooting more 3's.  Hansen too.  Moss should not be taking any.

I think that's right.  Running a play to get Drumgoole an open look on a corner 3 is worthwhile.  Having him taking pullup 3s at the end of the shot clock is not.

Agree on Moss as well.  Not only does he not have the historical shot % like Drumgoole, but he's shown to be a productive scorer when driving to the basket.

Re: Can Drumgoole stop shooing 3s?

Since Drumgoole went berserk against Dayton with the 3's, I've noticed that the opposition tends to focus on him defensively in that they clearly see him as our primary outside scoring threat.   They deny him the ball and his spot, put their best defender on him, harass him on the dribble, etc.   In short, he now gets fewer open shots than any of his teammates - which was certainly not the case in the OOC.  I still think he's probably our best 3-point shooter (maybe Autry...), but his opportunities/successes are limited by the greatly increased defensive attention he now is drawing.
