2015-2016 freshmen class

Jair Bolden,  Justin Williams,  Arnaldo Toro,  Collin Smith and Kevin Marfo.  With sophomore Jordan Roland.  And some would say that Lonergan couldn't recruit.   This was a good young team in the making.  The anger is fading, but yes, there is still some lingering resentment.

Looking at that roster, along with the denial of a regular admission to the son of a Hall of Famer who would
be exciting to watch however much he played, those feelings are quite understandable.
Especially looking at recent years and even this year.
On a really long term rebuild.

Re: 2015-2016 freshmen class

Yes it was a very good recruiting class coming off the NIT win.  I don't think anyone would disagree with that statement.

The only cold water to throw on this trip down memory lane is there is no guarantee that they all would've stayed together to reap the benefits of that strong recruiting class.

Coming into 2016-2017 the starting lineup most likely would've been:

G - Sina
G - Hart/Roland
F - Steeves
F- Watanabe
F - Cavanaugh

Given ML's reluctance to throw freshman into the fire unless he had to like in 12-13, there were simply a limited number of minutes to throw at Smith/Toro/Marfo.   Most likely at least 1 of those 3 transfers out after freshman year.

Bolden probably sticks around even if he doesn't get much playing time because there really weren't any other guards on the roster.   But does he get illusions of grandeur like Kethan Savage and leave after his sophomore/junior season?

Roland would be a wild card.  He really didn't play much his freshman year and I could see ML not giving Roland a long leash his sophomore season if his shot wasn't falling.  Does Roland stay if he's not the alpha dog on offense going forward like he is at Northeastern?
