First, I have mentioned this before but just to give it another shout-out, I would urge everyone to check out the Inside the A10 show with Tom McCarthy and Phil Martelli. I am 1-2 episodes behind but one I recently watched dealt with NIL and the transfer portal. The first guest was Jay Bilas who before speaking out on those subjects, reminisced about his calling A10 games (the A10 was his original "beat" on ESPN). He expressed how thankful he was for coaches like John Cheyney, Jim Baron, and others taking the time to let him into their practices and teach him as much as they did. On one of the greatest days in GW MBB history, when Shawnta hit the game-winner over Xavier to win the A10 West, Jay Bilas was on the call. Bilas was followed by Woj (now working at SBU) and then the AD's from Davidson and SLU. Martelli not nearly as funny as in his younger days but he's informative and his opinions matter.
Second, a bit of nonsense but maybe someone will enjoy this. On Friday night, Michigan State-Michigan was called by arguably the best young announcer calling college basketball (Jason Benneti though a case can be made for Noah Eagle), an outstanding and fairly young analyst in Robbie Hummel, and Bill Raftery. I'll paraphrase the opening (with all 3 on camera):
Jason: Raft, this Michigan team has really played well together all season.
Raft: First, how about the network brass allowing the three youngest guys calling college basketball to work together for a night. (Then, turns to Robbie): But you're correct Jason. Michigan really knows how to, something you won't be able to relate to Rob, share the ball. (In case you are unaware, Hummel was an incredible shooter and scorer at Purdue.)
Jason: Wow, Robbie, in the 20 years you played in the Big 10, had you ever been insulted quite like that?
Robbie: Actually Jason, the only times I ever feel insulted are when I am calling games with you.
While I know that practically nobody decides on a game to watch based on who is calling it, it was a pleasure listening to these three call a game together. Aside from Enberg-McGuire-Packer and McDonough-Bilas-Raftery, this was the best three person booth in the sport that I could recall.

Benetti is the best. He got such a raw deal from (GW alum) Jerry Reinsdorf. Fuck Jerry Reinsdorf.
