Re: Joe McKeown to Retire After Next Season

Would love to see a GW-Northwestern game scheduled next season, ideally at the Smith Center with a ceremony to honor him

Re: Joe McKeown to Retire After Next Season

Hope this groundswell clamor from the kiddie press corps following GW and college basketball lands on receptive ears in Evanston and Foggy Bottom. Now to get Dairy Queen to sponsor the evening and Meghan McKeown to provide guest commentary with our own ThunderDunk PBP guy.

Surprised Joe didn't retire after this year, though he may not have wanted to retire after a down year.

Re: Joe McKeown to Retire After Next Season

Clearly, his returning to GW (and Las Cruces where he got his start) would be an awsome send off. GW should make it happen (well, the Smith Center part; maybe host a four-team tournament with NMSU and his alma mater OK St?)
As one of three people to witness his first and last wins at GW in person, I have very much enjoyed watching his success and wish him and Laura the best as he heads in to his final season.

Re: Joe McKeown to Retire After Next Season

Really liked Joe. I liked to talk with him when he came down here to play Pat Summit's Lady Vols. He told me he liked to schedule the best teams in the country early on to prepare his teams for the NCAA later in the year. That was a given every year. Boy, have we come down from his days.
