Bart Torvik Pre-Season Rankings

We are still a long ways until the start of the season, but I wanted to pass on that Bart Torvik has released his current preseasons rankings.  GW is currently coming in as the #52 team in the country.  We are #37 in adjusted offensive efficiency and the #94 in adjusted defensive efficiency.  This doesn't mean much this far out, but it looks like the stat nerds see good things for GW this season.

Re: Bart Torvik Pre-Season Rankings

Good find and good to hear.
Know that we are returning a "core," but also have signed a number of potential impact
players who have never played at GW.
So what does that mean, not only for GW, but most every college basketball program?
Who will rise to expectations? Who will not? Who will be physically sidelined by injury (hopefully
no one)? Who, if anyone, won't listen to the coaches or buy into any system(s) we have and do their own thing? Who knows how this will shake out--and how will this shake out with our competition?
Imagine it is especially tough to figure preseason possibilities in today's transfer/NIL era.

"Ranked" at Bark's #52 with CC getting his players for his style, is pretty good.

and #2 in the A-10

Re: Bart Torvik Pre-Season Rankings

First and foremost, notwithstanding my progressive short term memory loss caused by aging, if there is one post I will remember all summer, it will be our preseason ranking of 52 (which, sadly, has now plummeted to 55).

Now, as much as I considered myself a bit of a statistical geek, I am looking at the stats associated with Torvik's rankings and see things like Projected Effective Talent and Projected Effective Experience and must scratch my head.    (Free Quebec must be having a wet dream over all of the stats provided).  And please, someone tell me if I should be happy or concerned that our team Barthag is 8225,  Is there anything that we can do to get it higher (or lower if it is a bad thing).

Finally, in reviewing our specific roster members, Torvik has his top 10 projected contributor, with Ty Bevins getting the "The Professor and Maryanne" treatment as being listed as part of "and the rest", along with the 2 frosh and 2 returning non scholarship players.    I was very impressed with Bevins, who played a strong defense all season and with confidence gained over the course of the season showed himself to be an effective 3 point shooter at .389 for the season.  In fact, other than Autry, I don't know if there was anyone I was more comfortable with shooting the 3 on last season's team other than Ty.  If we indeed have 10 players on the team that are better than Bevins, we could be very good this season.
