Bernadette McGlade to retire

A10 commish to retire at end of the academic year.

Hopefully, the league hires the Chris Caputo of commissioners - meaning, someone with deep connections who believes in the league and truly understands the way college basketball has changed.

When I saw that interview with her this summer, it sounded like she thought it was still the RPI era, like she hasn’t adapted, so I’m happy to have a new commish coming in, though the universities seem to really like her so who knows what she really does behind the scenes.

Anyway, hope we get someone who can lead the A10 to better days ahead.

Re: Bernadette McGlade to retire

She was hired largely for her expertise in negotiating television contracts.  When you consider that the A10 has national contracts with ESPN, USA/Versant, and CBS which includes the annual conference title game, not to mention the streaming contract with ESPN+, I would say her tenure should be considered a huge success.  Additionally, she helped bring in VCU, Mason, Davidson, Loyola , and Butler (for a year) when this conference could have endured a major upheaval for the worse.  Not that this should be the benchmark but compare her with Linda Bruno and that comparison isn't close.

On this subject, I agree more with Mayhem than FQ.  Selling the A10 must be a tough job.
