Ok, I know we’re all disappointed with this season, and not sure anyone would be particularly excited about the NIT, even though it would our first time making it since we won the whole thing… but we shouldn’t dismiss the chance we could make it.
The NIT has changed its criteria to relay heavily on computer metrics - for which we look much better than our record. They use an average of 7 metrics, including BPI, KPI, KenPom, Net, SOR, WOB, and Torkvik.
We probably fare terrible on SOR (strength of record) and WOB (wins above bubble), but we’re decent in the others.
As a result, this NIT bracket predictor has us as one of the last 4 in:
This one also has us last 4 in (though that was before SLU loss):
Also giving us a chance is that several of the teams above us will opt for the Crown instead.
So my questions are:
1) Do you think we will get an NIT bid?
2) Will you excited if we do and are playing some team like Oklahoma, New Mexico, or San Diego St?
3) Will you be disappointed if we don’t? (Asking 2 and 3 because it’s possible to be disappointed if we don’t, but not excited if we do)

I have no idea if we will or won’t, but I’d be pumped if we do. It’s not like this is 2016 where we were disappointed to get in bc we were close to the big dance. After the season we had, we should be proud/happy to be in any post season.

Obviously, computer models (and/or artificial stupidity) are incapable of applying a smell test. If they were, GW would not be getting mentioned in the same breath as the NIT. It would be a letdown if college basketball were relegated to extending an invite to a 15-loss team that went 1-9 against the good teams in its own conference.
Should GW accept a bid if offered? Of course. Would I be excited to watch GW´s NIT games? You betcha. Will I be sad if teams more deserving of a bid than GW get the call and GW does not? Hardly.
Want to cheer some more for GW in 2025/26? RevsBall goes for a sweep over URI tomorrow (Sunday, at The Tuck), and a win would lift them to .500; so why focus on a team that cannot hold a 20-point lead?

I would be excited to see us play in the NIT. I have no interest seeing us play in any other postseason tournament, including the Crown.

Guessing if we're not hearing anything, may not be a good sign.
Unless a lot of dropouts.

Would we hear now or not until they announce the teams tonight?

I can’t help thinking that this could be us getting scorched by VCU…
So which team gets the higher seed, VCU or SLU? Should be VCU, as far as I’m concerned. They keep getting better while SLU faded down the stretch.

Agree should be VCU if momentum counts. We’ll see. I would have thought SLU would be in the dreaded 8/9 game, and that Dayton may have gotten the perennial 12 seed upset spot. Dayton may have put themselves in position for a 10 now.

Regardless of our disappointment with what happened this year, it’s now a new season- and I’m excited.

Nobody wanted an NIT bid back in October, but I don’t remember anyone on here predicting an NCAA bid either. Getting back into the NIT for the first time in a decade is a significant step forward for the program, and I am excited for the opportunity. If we manage to win the first one, we may have a postseason rematch with New Mexico, which would be fun.

Since we are playing a 4, can I assume that (1) we are a 5 seed and (2) that as the lower seed, we will be on the road?

It ts not great being in the NIT, but hey...it s a banner to hang at the Smitty...something the MBB team hasn't done in some time. It is also showing a positive progression in CC. Look...I think most of us were disappointed in this season and some of it has to fall on the coach, but on the other hand, there is no question that he has greatly elevated the program since his arrival and that the NIT is tangible evidence of that elevation. I hate to think what could happen if he was gone and we were to again have to start from scratch.

We’re unseeded and play at Utah Valley.

For many of us old timers. the NIT may mean more to us than it really is. I know that last season, kids were already announcing their portal intentions during the tournament season. We had this debate last season...should GW players that have entered the portal prior to our game be allowed to play? Last season, they did, and I believe it had an adverse effect on the team.

Portal doesn’t open this year until April 7
