When GW travels to Boston College in November, there will be a new broadcast team calling the game for BC radio.  That's because the Eagles are making a change to their announce team.  Josh Maurer and Kevin Collins have been let go with little time to find a new job.  One has been calling games for 13 years and the other for the past 8 years. 

According to Collins, the firing was orchestrated by new head coach Luke Murray, Bill's son (and maybe the subject line of this post has just clicked for you.)  Maurer and Collins made several attempts to meet Murray upon his hiring including lunch invitations, but the coach was having none of it.  It appears that Luke wants zero negativity brought from the old regime so that apparently includes the announcers.  One is a lifelong Eagles fan who will still root for the program.  He has served as a fill-in engineer during some games and even volunteered to remain with the program as an engineer without any on-air role whatsoever.  

Now, maybe Luke heard some tapes and was unimpressed, but this seems unlikely.  And, the AD has come to the new coach's defense, claiming that this was not the coach's decision.  However, Collins revealed that the news was broken to the duo by the Deputy AD who did claim that this was all Luke Murray's doing.  I don't have a horse in this race but it's hard to believe the new coach who refused to even sit down with these guys.

It's such a bazaar story but the reality is that the careers of two guys have been fucked with for no real apparent reason.  Part of me wanted to root for Bill's son but now the bigger part is acknowledging that maybe spending so much time with Dan Hurley has rubbed off on Luke, and not in a good way.
