Old friend Collin Smith, now at UCF, announced he is opting out of the season due to COVID-related concerns.

Very mature, responsible decision. Especially so given the acknowledgement of an underlying health condition. Wishing Collin the best and a safe return to the UCF Knights in 2021-22.

I feel Collin's note is beautiful, and from the heart. I believe he is a wonderful young man and it sounds like his Mom and Dad are also wonderful, supporting parents. I'm sure they are proud of their son. I'm so glad to hear that Collin is making his health a priority so we can hear great things about him in the future, not only on the basketball court, but off it too. Also, I hope his teammates, classmates coaches, and professors are proud of him. By this one act, I feel Collin has become a role model for many of us, and, IMO, that's not so easy to accomplish at such a young age and in such difficult times.
