A win today would do wonders for everyone and at least end the year on a good note.

Come on Rising, please stop it. Wonders for everyone? A win against Fordham is now a wonder?
Yes, they can desperately use a win and it would in fact end the year on a good note. Let's win today and then let's beat Duquesne on Saturday (who we split with last season). It will take a 2-0 conference start to get me to feel a bit better about this team. Not solely a win today.

DMVPirahna, great recap as always! Unfortunately, I've been watching the Wizards too, another parallel to GW is they have lost to mostly average or below average teams in Orlando and Chicago, and both teams could be in BIG trouble when they start playing a string of quality teams!!!
Since Fordham hasn't played yet, I looked at Lindy's write-up on them and it mentions they added 2 talented true freshmen guards in Julian Dozier and 6-4 Jaamair Butler, Dozier attended Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut and played with several BCS-bound players. They also added 6-4 redshirt freshman shooter in Cameron Cooke, so if one of these guys lights up GW today, you have a little info on them.
I'm seeing the the line move in favor of Fordham, they opened as a 2.5 point favorite and are now up to 3.5. I'm not sure what to make of this because GW is 1-6 and hasn't played any good teams, but this is the first game of the year for Fordham. Fordham is picked to finish last in the A10 so they could be just as bad as GW is right now or a little better.

Guessing in-season defections of two key players and the resulting loss of backcourt depth may have played a role.

Even with the defections and struggling with/losing to bad teams, there is a slight chance that Fordham could be worse than GW!! But I see your point, betting against GW seems to be the right play no matter who the opponent is.

Less than 4 minutes in and it's clear that we're going to have trouble with their bigs on the offensive glass.

So after Bishop and now Ball, who is the first guard off the bench? Seymour?

Fordham has figured it out. Pound it inside.

Announcer -- maybe a flower will blossom off the bench -- Seymour takes the 3 (airballs wide open 3) -- announcer goes maybe not.

Seymore in his minute and a half or so gets beat bad on defense, misses 2 3 point shots and gets beat on rebounding position.

Soriano was rebounding against 2-3 Colonials.

Makes his third!

13-5 GW, nice start

Seymour got a rebound!

Here we go Sloan!

Seymour really lighting things up right now. Lineup of Ball, Brelsford, Paar, Seymour, and Battle has looked good on the offensive side of things. Ball moves well when those guys are on the floor.

Was Bishop in during this run, where we passed the ball?

Dare I say we look like an A-10 level team?

Seymour hitting up. I guess we are getting the complete picture of Sloan (good and bad) in these first 10 minutes of the game.
