Mike Brown Nugget

As we lament lack of interior D, rebounding, post play, basketball older guys recognize etc. Here is a nugget from an article the ATHLETIC on the 84 Olympic Trails

Behind the Mustang, a bus transported Knight’s team and staff. The 12 players on board had emerged from perhaps the greatest collection of amateur talent the sport had seen. Among the 72 prospects invited to the Olympic trials in Bloomington, Ind., were 37 future first-round NBA Draft picks, 12 future NBA All-Stars and seven future Hall of Famers. The historical implications weren’t lost on those there. Midway through the trials, George Washington big man Michael Brown asked every player to sign a trials game program, a souvenir he would keep for decades.

Re: Mike Brown Nugget

Mike Brown was a big star and All-American contender when at GW, but was on some pretty mediocre teams that struggled to get national attention. He then had a prolonged NBA career, the first GW grad to do so as a player.
As for the "greatest GW player of all time" issue, there have been many debates and his name comes up in all of them. Somewhere in the Smith Center someone should have one of the posters the school sent out to All-American voters of Brown leaning over the Washington Monument and some George Washington word play.
