Benny Schröder
Year: 2022
Position: SG
Height: 6-7
Hometown: Munich, Germany
High School: International Basketball Academy Munich (Munich, Germany)

Eligibility: Immediately eligible, three years to play.

Offers (out of high school): Davidson, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, Wake Forest

Statistics: 6 GP, 4.2 mpg; 2.3 ppg, 0.8 rpg; 50% FG, 67% FT

Best Performances: 12/6/22 vs. Kansas City: 4 points, 1 rebound; 2-4 FG, 0-1 3-PT in 3 minutes.
                                   1/24/23 @ TCU: 4 points, 2 rebounds; 1-3 FG, 2-3 FT in 10 minutes.

This seems like a really good high-upside pickup, as Schröder saw limited action in Norman at least partly due to multiple injuries throughout the year. He came in with a knee injury, had a bout of COVID, and then suffered an ankle injury later in the season. Schröder is devastating in transition and is really good attacking the hoop. His three point shooting/FT shooting is still a bit of a work in progress (as is his ball-handling given his assist to turnover ratio against international competition) but those are things that can be improved upon over time. The underlying talent is definitely there - Schröder was considered one of the top international prospects for the class of 2022 and was named 2022 MVP in the NBBL in Germany when he averaged just under 27 points per game.

Welcome to GW Benny! He intends to major in sports business. Time to add a German flag in the stands.

Yes, he says he loves GW and also said that Mark Few is not "America's Greatest Coach"

He spent some time bemoaning the breakup of the “troika on the Raritan”-Kaput!

GWSports.com article announcing his transfer. Article says he only has three years of eligibility. Can someone confirm?

Confirmed. The coaching staff is understandably not pleased that he didn't get a redshirt for last season
