Amazing!!! What a day for the A10!
Eat shit, NCAA and NCAA selection committee!
Now this sums up the relationship between the A-10 (and other non-P5 leagues) and
the NCAA.
And what TC points out above--really enjoyed seeing Oakland, Mich. beat blue blood Kentucky
last night--is the cherry on top of it.

SEC also has the potential to go 0-4, maybe 1-3 today as well. Could be wrong here, but I feel like fatigue from such a strong in-conference schedule and conference tournament could be leading to these big conferences' tournament struggles. It's a little reminiscent of the Big 10 in 2021 when Michigan was the only one to make it beyond R of 32, despite having 9 teams and 5 in the top-4 seed lines.

A10 is but 1-3 in the NIT though 2 losses were against #1 seeds, iirc.
Need to keep in mind every one of the four games was on the home court of the higher seeded NIT opponent.
On the flip side, the Big East had five teams in the NIT hosting all but one of the games as four of its teams were higher seeds. The BE went 1-4.

Should be a good reason to reduce Big 5 teams in Tourney because of their poor performance. Of course they won't schedule mid majors because of fear of getting beat.

Unfortunately the opposite has been recently occurring and is likely to continue. It has already squeezed many non P5 league teams out of at large bids. Many in the P5 do not want to stop there. The SEC commissioner and Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo have in fact come out in the last few days advocating for the elimination of lesser league's automatic berths in the tournament arguing for P5 teams to replace them.

Yet year after year the NCAA tournament proves just the opposite to be true even though these smaller schools are always up against it in the seed line
Did Duquesne or Dayton look like they did not belong? Oakland? Samford? Even the majority of the 15 seeds played a competitive game.
What about all those schools that we never get to see like Indiana State?
Reminder that the year VCU made a run to the final four they got an at large bid as an 11 seed from the colonial! Those days are long gone. Under the current criteria GW tournament appearances would be mostly wiped out with the exception of the conference titles in 2005 and 2007. The O6 team would be a nail biter bubble team on selection day
Gonzaga spent almost the entire season as a supposed bubble team because of a so-called lack of quad one wins. They are 12 in the computer and probably the most impressive team on day one. If not for a game or two down the stretch they are not even in the tournament of this current criteria
How much of the national discussion is there of this? Most of the whining went to St John's not getting included! Poor St Johns!
FAU playing right now looks better than northwestern more athletic you'd have a hard time figuring out who was the power 5 squad if you didn't know. Same thing last year when they went to the final four and San Diego State the national championship game and Gonzaga to the elite 8.
There are so many good players in the sport now the gaps between power schools and the best non power 5 is just non-existent except that the very top. Connecticut is in a different class but once you get by a few truly elite teams the gaps between these squads very small hence why so many of the games are so competitive
Dayton has a 23 NET but was there even that big of a gap between them and the six to seven schools in the a-10 that were 70 to 95 in the computer?
Duquesne was about 60 spots lower in the computer than BYU but when you watch the two teams play there wasn't much of a gap at all, that's not a one game phenomena that's just the reality of the talent on both teams.
There is no Gap at all between a power 5 team with a 50 computer and the smaller schools with the same computer rankings but those schools have no chance at all ever getting an at large bid anymore
Gonzaga Florida Atlantic and Dayton got the three bids all of them inside of the top 25 and all three may go three for three in the tournament
Western Kentucky 43 Marquette 33

This bears repeating:
Under the current criteria GW tournament appearances would be mostly wiped out with the exception of the conference titles in 2005 and 2007. The O6 team would be a nail biter bubble team on selection day
So to understand this correctly, today, an A10 team who is 26-2 on Selection Sunday would be on the bubble biting their nails.
Just an ignorant, uninformed take OR the secure work of a troll? (Either way, maybe the dumbest thing I've ever read here.)
Please vote.

UConn 50 Stetson 15
There's no doubt who the best team in the country is again this year, Danny Hurley's #1 ranked, Defending National Champion UConn team
Winning 6 NCAA Tourney games in a row is no easy task, I'd take the field over any one team, but its a close call this year. 17 years now since a repeat champion that looks very much in jeopardy

Coach Dambrot is a feel good national story. Happy for the Duke's.
I'm in LA for work this week and Dambrot is getting almost as much attention here as the Shohei Ohtani story. Mainly because of his Lebron connection, who is "the man" out here.

Time to sue in the name of equity. Revenue sharing for all teams in Division One.

Yale beats Auburn!
Maybe one of these years we can get more of these teams in and subtract half a dozen power five?
Put the Princeton team in the tournament that made the sweet 16 last year and was even better this year
Take away that rubbish Virginia team.

Greg Sankey can suck eggs. As Florida lost to First Four Colorado, besides Auburn's loss.
Fran Fraschella (sp) had a great idea that he discussed during a game a couple of days ago. Expand the tournament field to 72, so there's an opening round of 8 games. But all 16 teams in that opening round must be At Large teams. All Autormatic Qualifiers make the 64 team round, maybe as a 14 seed or higher. I hope I'm presenting that correctly - I only heard it once.
Make the mid-level (ie mediocre) Power conference teams earn their place.
March Madness became popular for many reasons, but first and foremost: betting, especially Office Pools- how's your bracket. . People who don't follow the regular season making picks based on all kinds of reasons, like mascots or their cousin went to Bucknell. Fans will be more interested in Vermont vs Syracuse and Yale vs Auburn, then Sankey's #11 vs Izzo's #12.

James Madison pounds Wisconsin!!
In total control for 40 minutes, as impressive a huge upset as it gets!!
James Madison a 30 win team that beat Michigan State on the road, that would not have received an at large invite
Yale Oakland James Madison, we do indeed need more of these teams and fewer 18-14 Power 5s.
Greg Gard in the tourney since 2018:
Missed the tourney, 15-18
Lost round 1 to the 12 seed
No tourney
Lost round 2
Lost as a 3 seed to the 11 seed, round 2
Missed the tourney again
Lost round 1 to the 12 seed
Wisconsin was 16-4 and #6 in the country, lost 10 of their 16 games to end the year

See, this is why we can't have so many non-power schools in the NCAA tournament. It's just not fair to the big schools, who have been anointed by God and G0d.
Sincerely,
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey

James Madison, which has only been a D1 team since 1979, now has more NCAA Tourney wins (5) than GW (4).

Dayton down 3 points vs #2 seed Arizona, 10 minutes to go
Dayton is LEGIT. They're right there vs a top 5 team
Recall this too was a team that was 1 or so less "Quad 1 win" away from not being in the tourney based on this absurdly rigged criteria.
No idea if they pull this out but the gap between the 2 teams isn't tnat big.

taking a break from watching Dayton by watching our 1993 NCAA team. What a team! Defense, rebounding, shooting. Crunched New Mexico and Southern and had Michigan on the ropes when refs decided not to call foul line pushoffs on Michigan. Brigham kept complaining about being pushed under the basket. Refs ignored him. Would have played Temple in Final Eight. We split with them in regular season. Our closest sniff of Final Four. Haven't been close since.

Arizona was clearly the better team, although Dayton fought hard and represented the A10 well.
