I just received my digital version of Blue Ribbon; here are a few GW highlights:

-- We are picked 3rd behind St. Louis and VCU but BR says "it wouldn't be a stretch" for GW to make the NCAA tourney
-- Castro is first team all league and is regarded as a possible MVP though Blue Ribbon picks Robbie Avila for that honor. (Castro outplayed him when we beat the Billikens and had the better conference stats.
-- Coach Caputo's quotes clearly show his feeling that this team will take us back to being a high level A-10 team like we were in the 1990s and 2000s.
-- Garrett Johnson's health is key; at the summer practices he looked almost ready to go.
-- Our depth is the main reason as to why we should be at the top level of the A-10.
-- Our OOC schedule is much better than lasy year when it was 362 rated 362 out of 364 Division 1 teams.

By the way Blue Ribbon picks Florida as #1 in the country.

I for one am very excited to read this.  Thank you for sharing AT Hiker.   Yes, I realize that pre-season ratings have little value in and of themselves, but it tells me that GW is now taken seriously and is once again relevant for the first time since Lonergan and I for one am excited to read this and am very much looking forward to the rapidly approaching season.  I would think that even the otherwise impassive GW Rising feels good about the Blue Ribbon review.

MMMmmmm If Blue Ribbon is credible as it was ten years ago, this is the kind of forecast we haven't seen since 2016. If we can rebound, defend the post and have real point guard play I'll be thrilled! (Visions of being able to play well on the road at the heavies flit across my brain. Thanks AT Hiker!

Well stated LSF.  Normally, I would think very little about this as nothing truly maters until we see the improvement on the court.  However, given this program's circumstances, I do realize a value in having credible experts like a Blue Ribbon acknowledge GW as an ascending program, particularly in light of the past 10 years or so.  We'd like opponents to be concerned about playing us rather than confidently treat us like a doormat, and publicity like this can only help that cause.

My response maybe should have been on your "Hype" thread Mayhen.  Ironically, and I could be wrong about this, I think GW is being benefited more than hurt by NIL and open transfers.   It doesn't mean I am in favor, but we seem to be doing much better recruit wise, of late.  Or it very well may be the product of the new coaching/AD regime. Two seasons ago we finished dead last, with something like a 250 game losing streak in conference.   Now we are being picked by one reputable publication for 3rd, with the words NCAA tournament and GW basketball being in the same sentence, without a laughing emoji.  Hoping that GW can market this hype to bring fans back to the Smitty,   As much as I love my other teams, for me, there has never been anything that matches the excitement of GW playing a big game (with more than a morale victory at stake), especially at the Smith Center in front of a full house.   It's time.   Can't recall that having happened since Virginia, and none of us are getting any younger.

Had a chance to stop by practice yesterday... this team is DEEP. Practice was intense. Feeling good for September!

Any feel about the health of Garrett Johnson?

Little nugget from the team preview:

"But with GW hoping to press more..."

Dare I say we might see some Mayhem next season!?

I haven't given up my handle for precisely this reason.  Time for some Mayhem!

Forget Blue Ribbon.  Vegas knows what’s up.

They actually give us the SECOND best odds to win the league, just a little behind VCU and well ahead of St Louis.

VCU +230
GW +260
SLU +475
Loyola +700
Dayton +1000
(Everyone else +1500 or higher).

I totally agree, Free Quebec. Robbie Avila and Castro are only 2 of the 18 players selected last year for the all A-10 last year who are back this year. And I will take our big guy over Avila. He was the better of the 2 last season.
