I'm not going to beat a dead horse anymore Gwmayhem on the meaning of the Georgetown exhibition.

But one thing I do want to address is your statement that "In a typical exhibition, even the walk-ons play. One scholarship freshman not seeing any playing time and another sophomore who is expected to be in the rotation playing 3 minutes are highly atypical for an exhibition."

As to the walk-ons, this is absolutely not true in competitive exhibition games. Maryland just had a close exhibition with UMBC and did not play any walk-ons. Syracuse did not play any walk-ons last night versus Pace. I am sure there are many other examples.

Second, who told you that Bevins was expected to be part of the rotation or that the rotation would go 10 deep? CC has said on numerous occasions that he would like to go no more than 8-9 deep regularly.

Third, I already told you the potential reason that a freshman did not play - redshirt.

Also, you seem to have forgotten that this was the second scrimmage/exhibition. We don't know who played and how much versus Temple and we don't know how minutes versus Georgetown were dictated by who played well or didn't versus Temple. All potential relevant factors.

1) That statement did not apply at all to secret scrimmages since I have never witnessed one.

2) Competitive exhibitions is a very new development in college basketball.  We both know that GW's exhibition history has generally meant bringing in a UDC or Bowie state type opponent (or for you oldtimers, Athletes in Action back in the day).   And in these often-one-sided affairs, walk-ons almost always got into the game during the final few minutes.  And no, I will not lok up 1991 exhibition box scores to prove this point.

3) Bevins most certainly was part of the rotation by the end of last season.  Even if he no longer is, it would be reasonable to anticipate seeing him play for more than 3 minutes in a less competitive exhibition.

4) This is nothing but an FYI to those who may have missed it.  Monumental Sports Network began operating as a cable network (taking over for NBC Sports Washington) in 2022.  This "meaningless" exhibition taking place two weeks before the start of the season generated the highest tv rating for any college basketball game on this network since at least 2022.  So yes, I would have to reiterate that there was far more interest in this event than the "60 and over" crowd.

Vegas has us as a 19.5 point favorite.

Perhaps more importantly KenPom has us as a 17 point favorite (beat that and we go up, win by less or lose and we go down).

I think GW by 12 as we still knock the rust off our game 70-58

I see a different game than PKGW.  Looking for high energy tonight.  I think the Georgetown exhibition ends up helping to remove many of the butterflies that otherwise may have accompanied opening night.  Playing the Over in an 85-70 victory.

I’ll be surprised if Maine puts up 70 on us even in a quick tempo. KenPom has Maine scoring 64 and I would take the under on them hitting 64.

Double header with the women. They’ve been doing that for the first game of the year for several years now, as far as I remember.

Pretty sloppy to begin. Castro with 2 fouls already?

13:26 and Castro now has 3 fouls. ? Why was Castro put in with 2 fouls? Weird.

Does anyone know why Garrett is not playing tonight? Slightly concerned that he was healthy enough to play vs. Temple and Georgetown, but all of a sudden can't make the lineup when the games count. Whatever setback there was, I hope it is minor.

This game is really showing how important Hunger will be to this team’s success this year. Sometimes Castro will be in foul trouble or otherwise unavailable, and to have a competent backup is huge. I can’t remember the last time we had that at center.

Big fan of everything Woo brings to the table. His defensive versatility and length have been sorely missed on this team in recent years. He kind of reminds me of a much more skilled Bo Zeigler.

I will elect to focus on these positives as I sweat whatever Garrett injury update is headed our way.

Geez……pretty sloppy play. And abysmal from the arc.

0-14 from behind the arc? I have a suggestion for a halftime adjustment.

0-13 from three is brutal, but in the interest of staying positive, Hunger has been impressive and I love how Jones drives to the basket.

End of 1st half was terrible. This team is in trouble if no one can shoot a 3. 0-13? 9-2 run for Maine to close 1/2.

Unclear what the actual injury is for Garrett but it's apparently minor. I'd expect more clarity postgame
