Not sure what this tells us, if anything, but just checked in on the annual campaign for Athletics, which ends tonight. As of this moment, overall the fund has raised $533K, a $13Kish bump up from last year. The most interesting thing to me is the performance of Men’s Basketball, which has seen only $40K raised for the program. That’s only about a third of what was raised last year when the team had $120K designated. That’s a huge drop off.

I remember last year at this time we were debating the “hype” and enthusiasm for the team ahead of the season and whether it really did anything except raise expectations. Well, this may be tangible evidence that the hype/enthusiasm, or the lack of it this year, really does matter.

FWIW, Men’s Basketball sits in third place behind Baseball ($76K) amd Women’s Rowing ($42K), and sits only $288 ahead of Women’s Lacrosse.

You can see who has contributed to individual teams….have to say it’s a little disappointing not to see more ex-players on the list.
