Four straight solid performances by WBB! Only got to the line three times which may be the only negative from the game, but as a whole not too many fouls were called. Much better with the turnovers today (just 9) and how about 23 assists! That came on 33 field goals made which is super impressive.

This win was also big because it means we aren't going to be finishing in the bottom 4. WBB is currently 9th, just like MBB. The Richmond game at home to conclude conference play will be big in terms of seeding as it is the only head-to-head meeting of the season.

Seeding Rundown:
Dayton, VCU, and Fordham are probably the top 3 to finish the year.

We aren't catching SLU since they won the lone meeting against us, but we could finish theoretically above:
Duquesne (if they lose their final game and we win)
UMass (we won the season series so just have to tie with them in conference wins)
Davidson (will be harder to overtake them - we have to win the final game of the season and they will have to lose their last two games)
Richmond (we win the final game, we finish above them)
La Salle (we are currently above them, but the Explorers can overtake us if they tie in conference wins).

URI, St. Bonaventure, George Mason, and St. Joe's will probably be playing on the first day of the tournament.

Women’s tourney doesn’t work that way. Top 2 teams get 1st round byes while teams #3 through #8 host campus site games against teams #9 through 14. 6 winners advance to Dayton in an 8 team championship bracket. GW is in a mad scramble to finish in the top 8 to host one of those 1st round games at the Smith Center. Teams are all bunched up so tiebreakers will likely decide some of the final standing placements.

If you didn't get a chance to watch this game, you should watch a replay on ESPN+ if you want to get a glimpse of the potential of this team. This was by far the best end to end effort of the year, and URI was by no means easy, as they are tall and athletic, and have two of the top players in the A10. What's great to see is the gradual improvements we've been waiting to see by individuals, translating into better team play.

Hyduke has settled down and is playing with more confidence. In the last three games, she's got 10 assists with only 3 TOs. She's not taking bad shots, starting to hit her 3s again.

Taiwo is learning to control her shots off the glass. It's resulted in 11-16 shooting in the last two games.

MoKwuah was 9-11 because she was instinctively shooting the ball without trying to dribble too much and moving well to the basket on the pick and rolls.

Zambrotta is still having trouble scoring. Too many air balls.., but her passes on the pick and rolls to MoKwuah were exceptional-- she had five assists.

Maund is a bonus. Her steadiness has created an environment for the younger players to improve. We'll miss her next year.

It's hard to say who's 1st team and who's 2nd, but in recent games, players have come in and contributed (like Overcash), and limited their mistakes.

If the team can play like this in the tournament, they can be very competitive. It would be great to see after the start they had this year.
