We'll see what he knows about recruiting at our level given his playing and coaching career, but he certainly should know about good academics.

I don’t think he’s allowed to do any actual recruiting. I think it’s more of a managing spreadsheets and monitoring Twitter type of job.

In addition to helping identify the universe of recruits to target, someone also has to report up the food chain regarding the competitive market in terms of NIL, collectives, and what other schools/communities could be offering potential recruits in incentives.  The job description is probably a lot different today than just one year ago.
