 Are you okay, Mentzinger?

Nope. Check back when you've followed the team for 38 years. Maybe a name change will be the cure.

Mentz, Only 38 years? Highlight in Eastern Eight/A10 was when we won our first Championship under Hobbs against St. Joe's. It took many years.  Being a GW fan can be tough. For years our women's team was an NCAA staple, not anymore. And our baseball and softball teams? Ugh!

Yeah I missed the Tin Tabernacle, Fort Myer and us in the SoCon. Too busy being indoctrinated into college basketball by my dad (Villanova '66). It's a disease but I'm quite immune. I still think the crowds were bigger and more boisterous in the Smith Center in 1986 (1-27).

Meanwhile watching this UR-GMU snoozer. GMU on a 13-0 run. Seems like they only play 8 good minutes a game.

Mentz is exactly right. Tough year for the A-10. We get just 1 bid this year, the auto qualifier. I hope this is not the way of the future. We still have some established coaches left in the conference with some promising up and comers (CC included).

2024 - like you, we were fans of all sports when we attended GW. Unlike you, we have 30-50 years of steady donations to GW from many of us over that time. Stick around long enough after graduation and you also will earn the right to be grim. It's a time honored tradition for GW grads!

Let's paste a big smile on Mentz's mug by destroying the Hawk this afternoon !   As an often cynical fan of 50+ years standing I certainly know and can appreciate from where he comes.....Truth is, we need to fight that Blue Fog, not use it as a name.

By the way……not for nothin’ but what kind of ass-backwards conference throws their #1 Seed out there for the 11:30 game?  Don’t @ me about Fordham…they may put a few more asses in the seats, but for TV purposes you bury your team with national name i.d. In the morning? When they are the #1 Seed?

Alum1, are you fairly new to the world of conference tournaments?  Pretty much most if not all #1 seeds play in the earliest game of the first day that they are playing (and this pattern continues throughout the tournament).  Actually, I believe that they are given the choice, and they all choose the first slot.  This gives the team the most time to rest and prepare for the next opponent.  Plus, I think the best teams would rather not know the other results of the day before they play.  Look around...Miami, Marquette, VCU, UCLA (noon PST)  all played at 11:30/noon today.  Purdue, Alabama and Kansas each does so tomorrow.

The 4 best A10 teams all won today, which is good for the league.

Think we're hoping for a Dayton win over VCU in the Final and force the committee to leave out a 26 win A10 regular season champion

I’m rooting for Fordham. They’ve never won an A10 regular season championship and are one of only three teams (four if you count Loyola) to never win the A10 Tournament. I couldn’t care less what the selection committee does.

I've watched conference tournaments for many years and never picked up on that!! I assumed TV or the conference randomly decided what time each team plays. I assume the coaches of the 1 seeds do not like the idea of having their players sitting around for possibly 6 or 7 hours waiting to play as well.

TBH so am I, been pulling for them all year.  No faith in this rigged system regardless of what happens

Thomas I too have watched for many years and unaware that was the case also assumed it was pick the ratings game like the NFL and basically everyone else.  I'm stunned this is the one example of where the $$$ doesn't dictate things!!

No, no, as someone said earlier the number one overall picks usually play early so they get the most rest.  I can't say that's always the case, but it's what I observed for the most part.

This is the real reason, not necessarily rest or having to play late. Fewer hours hanging around at the arena.

Yeah, I can understand, the players aren't on campus or playing a single game on the road. I look at this Maryland-Indiana game that is about to tip off at 9:20 ET, the first Big 10 quarterfinal game of the day(Purdue-Rutgers) started at noon, so Maryland and Indiana have been doing whatever for about 9 hours!!

VCU has about a zero chance of receiving an at-large bid. We are a one bid conference. Go, Fordham!

I’m disappointed Fordham lost, but I guess you can’t complain too much about having the best two teams in the final. Go Dayton!

I think the best team in our league won the tournament and will represent the conference in the Big Dance.

VCU gets the shaft.  St Mary’s the worst team they could have drawn.
