Statistics (from freshman year at Siena): 33 GP, 9.1 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.2 apg, 0.2 spg, 0.1 bpg, 0.2 TO.
37% FG, 100% FT, 37% 3-pt.

Best performance: 18 pts against Rider in MAAC quarterfinal (including 6 made threes).

Posted double figures 12 times, including 15 points against Providence in Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament 11/6, 14 against Norfolk State in Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament 11/16, 13 at Hofstra 11/28, 12 against Cal Poly 12/20, 12 at St. Peter's 1/3, 15 against Canisius 1/5, 12 at Marist 1/11, 15 at Monmouth 1/31, 12 points against Iona 2/13, 12 points against St. Peter's 2/19, and 12 at Canisius 3/1.

Of course, Sloan will be a good shooter from deep for us, as he made 94 threes on the year (which is very welcome on this team) but 37% while solid is not amazing. Of course, he will have a year to build from a solid freshman year. Will definitely have to rebound a lot more though when eligible, and unless we find a Jalen Pickett in the next year, will have to do more on the assist front as well. Additionally, his overall field goal percentage matched his three point percentage (much like Terry last year). Not putting a lot of stock in that though as he attempted just 18 (!) shots from inside the arc from the 270 attempts he took in total, and got to the line just 3 times all season (which will definitely have to improve). Sounds a bit like Mikic or Griffin in that regard.

The thing that will be most interesting to watch in the coming years is JC's style. Seymour played at a very slow pace in Siena, and part of that I thought had to do with JC customizing his style of play based on the roster he had at the moment. When he was hired, I thought uptempo play was in the cards down the road. Not this year (I'm assuming that we will play maybe close to national average or slower, but over time I was expecting us to ramp it up a bit). Maybe Mayhem isn't as frenetic as Havoc at VCU. Given how late in the year he left Siena, it seems to me he was looking for right fit in terms of style.

He almost literally did nothing but shoot threes. Going to guess that most of his seven two point makes all season were because his foot was on the three-point line. Hopefully he takes the off year to round out his game.

WHOA, that's quite a stat line for Sloan Seymour as a freshman at Siena, I'm not sure that I've ever seen a stat line like that for a starter/key player, he "literally did nothing but shoot threes" as BM wrote!! It looks like he can play in the post when you look at his size and wing span, so he should be able to rebound, defend and maybe block some shots when he starts playing for GW in 2020-2021.

Sloan Seymour looks like a taller and stronger version of former GW player Mikic. With the way Jamison Battle looked like a 3-point marksman during several Kenner League games and Sloan Seymour only shooting 3's last year at Siena, GW could have a lethal duo of 3-point shooters with those 2 down the road.

The transfer year off should be a great and needed opportunity for Sloan. Time in the weight room etc. I'm sure that a year from now he'll be ready to add more than 3pt shooting. JC obviously sees a lot of potential. I always love the addition of a coach's son.

0.7 rpg last year as a freshman. More than 8 rpg in high school.

So, was this a product of him being in a system where all they wanted was his 3-point shooting or because he didn't have the physicality for the college game? I read he bulked up after the season was over this year, so perhaps this year off will have a great effect on his all-around game.

Looking at stats and highlight videos alone, he looks like what we expected Javy to be out of high school. Unless he drains 3's like Steph Curry, we are going to need him to learn how to be serviceable down low.

He missed 169 shots and had only four offensive rebounds. You’d think he’d pick up more just by accident.

Definitely some similarities with Mikic here down to the reports on wanting and needing to be a more well rounded player. My guess is that Sloan's three point effectiveness will be decided in part by the players he is playing with. Mikic lit things up from 3 as a freshman when he caught teams off guard, same as Sloan last year. If we have a potent enough lineup, then defenses will have a tough time keying on Sloan. If we continue to be an offensively challenged team under JC, then it becomes all the more easy for opponents to shut down a designated three point shooter.

Don’t want to belabor this, but I will. Comparing him to Mikic is a bit of a disservice to Nemanja who had a much more well rounded freshman season.

BM, I agree that Mikic was a more well rounded player statistically than Seymour was during their freshmen seasons. The numbers do not lie. Nevertheless, Lonergan arrived at GW and almost immediately said that Mikic would have to do a better job of rebounding and defense if he was to earn his playing time. Mikic's playing time stayed about the same in Lonergan's first year, then was cut in half, followed by a slight bump during his senior season. My other point with the comparison is that Mikic shot 43.6% from 3 his freshman season and then never got to 36% in any of his other three seasons. Opponents were able to scout him and that made it more difficult for him to find open looks. The same possibility is in play for Sloan, unless or until there is enough offensive talent around him that defenses can not afford to key on him.

Sloan Seymour started 32 of Siena's 33 games last year and played about 27 minutes per game, so it looks like Jamion Christian was satisfied with S.Seymour being the "Designated Shooter", and not contributing in other aspects of the game. I'd assume that most coaches would cut the minutes or bench a guy who didn't do much else besides taking 3's, but that wasn't the case with S.Seymour. The fact that J.Christian has brought Seymour along to GW shows that he thinks highly of him and his game.

The Mikic comparison had to do with the fact that both he and Sloan Seymour's main job was to spot up and take 3's. My recollection of Mikic was him shooting and making a lot of 3's, but BM has showed that Mikic was a more well-rounded player than S.Seymour was. Also, Mikic wasn't a "Lonergan guy"(meaning ML did not recruit Mikic), so ML not being satisfied with his game and reducing his minutes was to be expected.

The Core 4 recruiting class also came in during Mikic's sophomore year(2012-2013) which probably played a role in Mikic getting less minutes over his final 3 years at GW. This looks to be a situation where Sloan Seymour is a "Jamion Christian guy", he's the only guy on GW who has played for him, so the coach will have more patience with Seymour, than ML may have had with Mikic.

He does look a lot like Mikic and that's fine by me.
Perhaps he will develop into a better version, maybe even much better.
