We've reached out to Jalen Deloach. I believe he started his career at VCU

We made a cutlist, albeit a "Final 7"

https://twitter.com/ThePortalReport/status/1777884917956763706

Stetson (D1) transfer Aubin Gateretse has narrowed his list down to 7 schools, he told @ThePortalReport:
George Washington
Santa Barbara
DePaul
Utah State
Saint Joseph’s
Nevada
Florida

6'11" 210 from Belgium

He has to look at our roster and see he will get some playing time.

Man, if Tafara goes someplace else, what would that be?  5 schools we attended or committed to?  That dude got a lot of bad advice over the years.

His numbers at UMass and Georgia Tech were underwhelming.    Not sure we would be interested.

Well, if it's Darren or Garrett or Jacoi, that would be very bad news.
Trey, you always have to worry about going to his Dad's team, of course. But Trey is at the
right level for now, certainly, to develop his game further and obviously, would get good advice from home.
Also hope everyone thinks of the education and social advantages of staying on the same campus from
year to year. This is often overlooked in this crazy game of musical chairs for players.
It was tough at the end of the season, but we've got a good framework to build on with the players we have now--and the ones we should get.

I consider it a shame that most of these players do not value their ability to get a college education at a great university for free.
Less than 3% of all Division I players will get an NBA Contract.

And a look at the transfer portal has mode the situation worse. 150 college basketball athletes have entered the portal, ending their scholarships at their original school. The top 100-150 will be picked up by other schools and will be fine.  The bulk will have to transfer down a level to a school more commensurate with their skill level. But many will not get picked up at all. Those students have lost their "free" college education.

Will they pick a school and attend with regular student financial aid? Or will they end up working minimum wage jobs w=for the rest of your life?

If you are a walk-on at GWU and enter the portal, who is looking for you? Not UConn, nor Kentucky, nor UCLA, nor Purdue. Stay and get your degree and go dominate intramurals.

Just My Opinion

Why not get some money too? Maybe in a school environment you like more? Maybe play in a full gym? Bigger program? Yer 22 and ambitious take a chance you can always trade back down

Joe Bamisile would be an example of why you don't do this. Especially every year.
Brayon Freeman played on his 3rd team this year after leaving GW and Rhode Island, where he was dismissed from the team.
But it looks like he only played in 4 games for Coastal Carolina this year.
Now can't find Brayon on the Coastal Carolina roster.
Didn't he play for 4 high schools? If so, that would be 7 (and now 8 schools) if playing next year in
7 or 8 years, if he is transferring again.
Sometimes, the grass isn't always greener and it is best to stay put.
Also, theoretically anyway, this is college and you might want to enjoy a life on campus for awhile, rather
than packing up and moving.
You won't get these years back. And the realities of the post-college work world can
be harsh, even if you have basketball talent.

Duquesne makes it official with Dru Joyce, Keith Dambrot's assistant and former high school player under Dambrot.  This of course makes Dru a high school teammate of one LeBron James and the two have remained close friends.

So, Bronny James to Duquesne?  It makes more sense than Bronny to the NBA, unless LeBron realizes he's running out of time to make his dream of playing in the NBA with his son come true.

We apparently have 10+ recruits coming on visits in the next week or so. Haven't seen any names of players visiting but hopefully good news is coming soon

If the weather holds, it will be a great time for them to visit campus - which almost sells itself in the Spring

While we didn’t get him, it looks like GW State and Loyala didn’t either.

Rafael Castro Season Stats

PTS:   2.9
Rebs:  2.4
Assists:  0.2
FG percent:    67.8%

Babatunde Akinbola's season stats:

PTS:   3.8
Rebs:  5.8
Assists:  0.3
FG percent:    59.5

Unless Castro is a defensive game changer,  you will forgive me for not getting too excited about this possible recruit.     I really hope that the bar is set higher than this.

Probably would be fair to compare his Auburn stats not his GW stats.
