Re: 2022 Transfer Targets

Our competition for Joey's services is very real.  Caleb Houstan has left Michigan after a single season and he really has not been adequately replaced.  Baker could very easily slide into that role.  And....Hunter Dickinson is back and this is very definitely going to be HIS team.  Moussa Diabate is also gone and while he played a different frontcourt position, it's quite likely that Michigan will play differently in the frontcourt this season since they will be down to one very talented post player.

As for Georgia, I suspect there's plenty of PT to go around but I'm just not sure why anyone would want to play their one remaining season there.  Perhaps you can say the same about GW but a difference here is that Joey would have a much greater chance to shine against A10 competition compared with playing as a bottom feeder in the SEC.

And Mike White leaving Florida for Georgia.....one of the more curious coaching moves in some time.

Re: 2022 Transfer Targets

Don't assume it's just between us and Michigan/Georgia. I hope he comes but I would not hold my breath at this point.

Averaged 8.5 points and 35% from three in 29 games this past season.

You're way more in the loop than most of us are (definitely me) so I'll take your word for it. Hopefully it works out

Re: 2022 Transfer Targets

Any updates on how the Joey Baker visit went?

Re: 2022 Transfer Targets

He's not coming. He really wants to be a "Colonial" so he's going to that low level Jersey school with the same nickname.

They also are changing it

I've only watched a 5 minute highlight reel, but I'm not sure Seikou and Bishop would mesh as a backcourt. Not a lot of complimentary skill sets between the two from what I could tell.

Re: 2022 Transfer Targets

Not necessarily above, but in some cases, like with the Duke guy who went to Michigan, we seem to be
rejected after seeming real consideration by a higher level of recruit. It's a start and maybe we'll pull
something out of the hat with a late recruit.
At least for now, still hopeful that by next season, Coach Caputo can put his experience in place for some
recruits with impact, both freshmen and transfers.

Hey, a long no is better than an immediate no which is better than a hell no

I'm sure by the end of June Caputo will have picked up a gaurd. Worst case we get a low major transfer for a year. I wonder if he has a list of emergency transfers

Fresno State transfer JR Ballard (@Jrballard__) is on a visit to George Washington.
Ballard played for Cal Poly in the 2019-20 season where he averaged 13.1 points on 36% shooting from three.

Seems to have deleted the tweet.  Hopefully that's not a bad sign.

Would be a good pickup as a backup G.

Not a point, looking at his assist stats, but another guard.
Looks like a graduate student.

Committed to Weber St.

I don’t know that he would have helped (he wasn’t very good for a mediocre Fresno team last year) and I don’t know if Caputo even wanted him, but it’s fairly depressing that we’ve only landed one transfer this entire offseason despite plenty of playing time available.

I hate to admit it because I still think Caputo was a good hire, but the lack of incoming transfers has me less excited about this year than any non-MoJo year I can remember. It almost feels like we fans are being asked to not care about this upcoming season because the rebuild is really scheduled to get moving the year after.

Re: 2022 Transfer Targets

Second time Weber St has beaten us out in the transfer portal. We were also in on SIU transfer Steven Verplancken.
