2025 Portal Info

Very little of this turns out to be very accurate, but sometimes fun to follow. But here’s the first

Brandeis (DIII) grad transfer Toby Harris tells @On3sports he’s heard from these schools since entering the Transfer Portal

Loyola-Chicago
George Washington
Iona
Vermont
William & Mary
Furman
Asheville
Chattanooga
& more…

6-8 SF
18.8 points, 40.4% 3P

Re: 2025 Portal Info

I have seen him play a few times. Offensively, he is ready, defensively not so sure.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Has there ever been a D3 guy to move up to the A10 level? That seems like a pretty big jump. Loyola and GW definitely seem to be on the upper end of the schools on the list which suggests that he's probably closer to CAA/SoCon level.

Jared Turner also entered the portal back in December from Northeastern. Local kid who we offered out of HS, has good size, and can shoot. A guy like Martin Somerville (UMass Lowell) would make a ton of sense at the guard position should he enter.

Not a huge difference between top D3 teams and bottom D1 teams.

Don’t forget Duncan Robinson who started at Williams transferred to Michigan and is still in the NBA with the Heat.

Somerville is entering the portal when it officially opens on Monday.

This is an interesting one as well given his performance against GW during OOC (although probably a school like W&M/CAA is a better level right now):

Joe Tipton @TiptonEdits 10m
Lafayette guard Alex Chaikin plans to enter the transfer portal, per his agents at Momentous Sports Partners (@MomentousSP). The 6-5 true freshman averaged 13.9 PPG, shooting 47.9% from three -- the second-highest 3P% in the country.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

I remember Chaiken.
You never know, but worth getting and giving a shot (so to speak, actually numerous shots). Thought that during the game.
19 points in 21 minutes against us.
Would address our glaring weakness.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

My annual caution ... like HS recruiting take this with a grain of salt, these lists of schools are sometimes exaggerated to drum up interest and when accurate, often do not reflect anything more than some of the schools just kicking the tires for evaluation. It's the wild west out there. GW is kicking some tires right now and we will see what evolves into mutual interest. I can assure you that CC and staff are on it.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Anyone interested in an offseason tracker, I've started one here as I did last year: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k5fuo9fdDaVj-jfhFb_85_CWLJGo72V5klyi_-10OqE/edit?usp=sharing

Please let me know if there's any info I'm missing or anything you think I should add to improve it

I have to say I'm not sure any of those we followed early even visited . But you never know.

Pretty sure the first time Castro and Hansen were mentioned was when they signed.

Still fun to follow

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Some others from yesterday:

The Portal Report @ThePortalReport 21h
Lincoln Memorial (D2) transfer Wes Enis has heard from the following programs, source told @ThePortalReport:
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Oklahoma State
Florida
Washington
Virginia Tech
Creighton
St. Louis
Xavier
Davidson
Cincinnati
Mississippi State
College of Charleston
Drake
Arkansas State
Dayton
Loyola Chicago
Murray State
George Washington
Rhode Island
George Mason
Furman
Toledo
Liberty
and more...
6'2, 200-pound guard averaged 20 PPG and hit 41% of his three pointers this year on 200+ attempts!

Butler began his career at Fordham. Maryland native.
The Portal Report @ThePortalReport 17h
Drexel transfer Yame Butler (@yame_e4j) has received interest from the following programs, his advisor tells TPR:
Oklahoma State
Georgia
SMU
Fresno State
Michigan
FIU
High Point
Towson
Stetson
FGCU
George Washington
Vanderbilt
Butler

Mincey is also a Maryland native, but I believe is seeking a hardship waiver as he is out of eligibility as of now.
The Portal Report @ThePortalReport 16h
UMass Lowell transfer Quinton Mincey has received interest from the following programs, his advisor tells TPR:
Wisconsin
Charlotte
George Mason
George Washington

Two other notable names from yesterday: Frederick, MD native Masai Troutman from Northeastern (13.5 ppg) who had an offer from GW out of HS and Christian Watson from Southern Miss (8.1 ppg) who is also from MD (and had a GW offer out of HS). Watson began his career at Miami FL. Given Southern Miss was awful, probably not looking at the latter one now.

Multiple members of the staff are also following Chase Forte, who averaged over 17 ppg at South Dakota in the Summit League. He won DPOY in that conference, albeit it's a league where not much defense is played.
