Re: 2025 Portal Info

My plea to those of you feeling a bit down on the current state of college basketball, is to hang in there with GW and Caputo and dont give up. First let me say I completely understand the way you feel and aren't trying to invalidate those emotions. Believe me I feel some of the same emotions.
But this is a really pivotal time for the program, and the GW administration is putting their money where their mouth is and committing an unprecedented amount of the schools funds towards revenue sharing. An amount that would put us in a very competitive position in the A10. This doesn't mean the school doesn't need our donations and support. They need that now more than ever. Even if it's just butts in seats and our overall support.  This is the attempt to make GW successful in this new world of college athletics. I know we all take joy (and pain) in the basketball program and now is the time to support GW more than ever.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

I’ve been hearing the same thing every year since GW fired Mike Lonergqn.   The university is  perpetually telling us that they’re stepping-up their commitment to the program, and then they don’t.  It’s this continuum of unfulfilled promises that’s  particularly insulting.

I have personally met with members of the athletic department who have confirmed the administration’s commitment to revenue sharing among other things.  we have also stepped in other ways such as charter flights.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

I can't speak for the 2017-20 period, but I get the sense that COVID up-ended a lot of plans, followed by the departure of a very pro-athletics LeBlanc/Diaz administration. Then you end up with an interim president, and now we're back to an admin that seems to value athletics in a real way.

The new threat on the horizon is GW's exposure to federal funding cuts, and how things will need to be shuffled to maintain existing commitments across campus should those wells dry up. I just don't know how bad it is for GW, but I know it might be catastrophic at other schools. I also have no idea if Athletics will be dragged into those adjustments.

GW getting involved with Kennard Davis would certainly lend a lot of credence to the rumors they’re going all in on rev share.

The St. Louis native is going to command some pretty decent $

Gave up my season tickets this past season for the first time since graduating ('86). Same reasoning.

Re: 2025 Portal Info

Hard to say whether that's Jun's full contact list above, but from the schools included I like Towson the best for him (and not just because it's relatively local). Rutgers and MS State could be interesting as well, but I'm not sure he'll get the playing time he's looking for. He won't get better by going to Providence imo. ODU is interesting because their HC Mike Jones has a lot of ties locally from his time at DeMatha. I could see Jacoi maybe going there but it feels like the Sun Belt is a level too low for DBJ (and I'd hate to have to face either player next year given the success former GW players have facing the Revs). NMSU feels random. I think Towson and Skerry could be an interesting fit with Jun's physicality.

Could see Jun doing a Bamisile, going up to the Power 5 and depending on his situation/performance, moving back and becoming a top A10 level guy
