Yes or No. Will Slim be GW's first men's basketball player since JR Pinnock in 2006 who gets drafted?
Very much hoping I am wrong, but I will cast the first vote as a "No" vote.

I am hoping you are wrong also, but I agree with you on "No". I did not see his skill set or physical strength being good enough for NBA level. On the other hand, if he had developed an outside shot, my vote would have been different.

This seems like the kind of question that would be better asked using the "poll" feature when creating a new thread. That way you can see what others think that don't want to necessarily add a comment.
But to answer it, I'll be positive and say yes - with one of the last 10 picks of the draft. I think Slim is helped by the number of players who opted to return to college and the position he plays. My other reason is that the Wizards have two of the final ten picks as of now and I could totally see them pick a guy who played locally for one of them if they don't trade one or both of the picks.

I agree with this in terms of Slim's long-term prospects of staying/actually playing in the league, but some team will probably be fine with throwing a two-way contract at him just to see if anything develops over the next couple years.

While nothing is a lock, based on what I am hearing from couple of NBA scouts and GW, I'll go with yes. I'll even go further and say it will be somewhere between 36 and 54 which will depend on trades etc. I hope not to be wrong about this.

So, there are many people on the board who know and have seen more than me. With that said, I just gotta say "did you see the Ge&^%$*own game?" There is no way he would get drafted.
But there are many "experts" who write draft previews and they say he will get drafted.
I will stick to my own eyes and say no. I hope I am wrong.

Am rooting for Slim big time...so it's a yes. Likely not tonight but in second round tomorrow. Question is will he stick with G league for very long. His skill set on offense is untapped and undeveloped. He runs the floor exceptionally well and is a nightmare on traps which brings value to the right team. Any scout who saw the allyoop at Smitty when he went up left elbow above the square to grab and dunk, took notice. It was freakishly good. And he's mature with a good work ethic.

As the previous board said: What would we be without wishful thinking?

I would love to see the Wizards select him in the 2nd round and keep him in DC. They have two 2nd round picks, including the final pick, and have a very young, development oriented team, so drafting him would be a low risk proposition, imho.

A fairly even split among those who answered. Should be interesting. As DC Native alludes, it could very well go down to that final Wizards pick.

This doesn't mean that he will definitely get drafted but CC headed to NYC to be with Rafael Castro tonight. I would think he wouldn't do that unless he had a decent degree of confidence that Castro will be selected at some point this evening. We will see.

I love that CC making the trip to be there for whatever happens. I hear GW Rising on Cc's rationale.
Lets go!!!!!

I'll say he's getting drafted since per Adam Zagoria he got a green room invite

If you said "no", you were correct.

Slim signed a two-way deal with the Bucks!

Given the Giannis deal, this seems like a very good landing spot for a 2-way player to actually get some run. Happy for Slim!

I suspect he will have to prove his worth in the G league before getting an opportunity with the Bucks.

A very complicated story involving Castro and the NBA Draft. Turns out he could have been drafted twice in he latter part of Round 2. However, he turned the first opportunity down because the first team was not offering a two-way contract and rather a Rule 85 contract. For those of you who know, a Rule 85 is less money and no guarantees whereas a two-way contract signed before the season is 100% of the NBA rookie minimum. He actually had a second opportunity to be drafted but he had a two-way free agent contract offer on the table from the Bucks (if no one drafted him) and decided that was a better opportunity for him than the other team. This has been verified from multiple sources. Good for him - he knows his worth and held out for it even if he didn't get the honor of being drafted.

How do you "turn down" getting drafted? The clue is in the very word "draft". Or did he threaten to just head to Europe if they picked him? It is not as if players have much of a choice when it comes to being picked or not.

Actually that's not true anymore in the latter parts of the 2nd round. Much of it has to do with what a team is offering and whether there are better opportunities here or overseas. Have you ever noticed the dozens of players whose draft rights are traded from previous drafts because they never signed? Teams usually have a conversation with a number of players as their pick approaches to tell them what they would offer if they are selected. They are not going to "draft" you unless you are on the same page and will sign - the picks are too valuable to waste because there are only 2 rounds. Most of the time there is agreement because the player has limited options. Sometimes it does not happen. Sounds like last night was one example with Castro. But I am telling you this is 100% true as to how Castro ended up with the Bucks.
