Re: Maurice Creek

One of my all-time favorite Colonials, who also happened to hit one of my all-time favorite Colonials game-winners.

Re: Maurice Creek

Mo Creek and Sideline Cancer plays at 4 today on ESPN, they are playing AfterShocks, which is a team of mostly Wichita State alums. It looks like this is a regional final, and the winner advances to the championship rounds in Chicago.

For those of you who are big college basketball fans, the TBT is something you should check out because you'll see a bunch of players who were very good in college, that you may have forgotten about since you haven't seen them in a while.

Re: Maurice Creek

BTW i just realized that Joseph Katuka is playing for DRC in the Richmond region. Only played 5 minutes in a win over the VCU Alum team. Play the Richmond Alum team in the semi today at 7pm

Re: Maurice Creek

Mo's team went down yesterday against a strong Marquette alum team.  Mo was held in check most of the game.  I believe he finished with 13 of which 7 came very late (in addition to a pretty behind the back assist).  Fran Frischilla called the game and at one point remarked that Mo likely earned some money on his international contract (presumably his next contract) based on his play in The TBT.

Re: Maurice Creek

Tony Taylor was just added to the Overseas Elite roster.

Re: Maurice Creek

Overseas Elite has won the TBT every year since it was created 5 or 6 years ago, so Tony Taylor has a good chance to take home a piece of the 2 million!!

Did anyone else from GW play in this tournament? George Mason had a team this year, and in previous years, there was a team called Mid-Atlantic Select(I believe) that was made up of guys who grew up in the D.C.area or played college ball here.

Re: Maurice Creek

Tony Taylor and Overseas Elite is playing right now on ESPN in the semifinals of the TBT. He's not in the starting lineup. He's playing against a team put together by NBA star DeMarcus Cousins. Overseas Elite has won the TBT all 4 years of its existence.

Re: Maurice Creek

Hi all, we're a new(ish) podcast that interviews basketball players known to Americans who are/have played professionally overseas. We're a couple of Mason grads and have interviewed some Mason and other A10 school alums for our pod (VCU, URI, LaSalle).

Tomorrow, we'll be sitting down with Maurice Creek about his career overseas. If anyone has any listener questions, we'd be happy field some suggestions. Either way, we'll be sure to let you all know when his episode is out on our YouTube channel as well as the other ways you can find our podcasts.

Re: Maurice Creek

These have nothing to with his overseas career, but more about his basketball journey prior to becoming a pro. I'm assuming a lot of what he went through in college prepared him for his overseas experiences.

His recruitment to Indiana originally. He was a highly rated recruit from this area, he probably could have gone to any school in the country, why a rebuilding program like Indiana? Did he consider Maryland or Georgetown while he was in high school.

His recruitment to GW after all of the injuries/setbacks he experienced at Indiana

The SHOT he hit with less than a second left to beat Maryland at the BB&T Classic.

Thanks for the great questions. Although we'll probably put out the full episode on Monday, I will try to cut out the Maryland/BB&T part and post that this week. It's a really good segment (in my opinion).

I just watched the clip, those are some great comments from Mo Creek about the shot and the game. I wasn't aware that he played against/lost to Maryland during his freshman year at Indiana(I looked it up and Maryland beat IU 80-68 during the 09-10 season), and that loss really motivated him when he got a chance to play Maryland again at the BB&T Classic with GW. It was also interesting that ML drew up the final play for Joe McDonald, but Creek told him that he had been practicing for that moment the night before and he would hit the shot..and he did hit the shot to beat Maryland.
