About an hour ago, he tweeted that Georgetown has now offered him, it looks like he was on a visit to Georgetown today.

The are 6-14, 11th in the Big East.  Isn't Ewing on the Hot Seat?

Re: Transfer: Darren Buchanan, Forward, 2022 - Transferring from Va Tech

Ewing SHOULD be on the hot seat as Georgetown just lost its 11th straight game, but you never know with them. It's got to be sort of a strange situation for Ewing and Buchanan because Ewing could be fired very soon. Why would anyone commit to Georgetown at this point?

Interesting that he just acknowledged his offer from Georgetown, a coaching situation that might itself be tenuous.

Like Darren's GPA and that he is proud of it.
GW has better academics and better basketball.

GW, Georgetown, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, George Mason

Glad to see we’re still in the mix.

May end up in another Ricky Lindo situation (coincidentally another Wilson Tiger) where he goes to G’town VT for a year and then finds his way home to GW.

Let's go! Hopefully we can land him (or at least that he doesn't go to Mason or Georgetown)

Ha! Top 5 or 10 is mild these days. First it's top 20, then wait for it, I'm slicing my list to 15 as if you can't decide among 15. Then it's 10 then 5, then 3 and then the announcement. You stay very relevant on social media that way. At least Buchanan didn't do all that so sounds like a kid who isn't interested in toying with everyone's suspense (good). One local kid a few years back listed 20 schools and he might have held offers from 1 or 2 lol.. After sexual conquests, I don't believe there is any greater source of lying among teenage boys than recruiting these days.

DBJ discussing his options: https://247sports.com/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Georgetown-George-Mason-George-Washington-Rutgers-Virginia-Tech-Darren-Buchanan-182498865/

George Washington: “I visited there multiple times unofficially. It's the same thing being in DC and it's basically home away from home so that played a part in why they're in my top five.”

“I'm definitely committing soon,” he said. “I'm planning a decision at the end of this month or the beginning of march. I wont say I know where I'm going yet but I'm definitely coming down the stretch.“

Here’s some more from DBJ about his options: https://stockrisers.com/s/417/talking-finalists-and-a-commitment-timeline-with-darren-buchanan-jr

George Washington: “By far the school that’s recruiting me the hardest. Been recruiting myself since 10th grade and haven’t stopped or slowed down at all. A great relationship with all coaches and I’ll have the opportunity to play as a freshman.”

Re: Transfer: Darren Buchanan, Forward, 2022 - Transferring from Va Tech

Given Darren's size and rebounding skills in addition to scoring, there's a lot of immediate playing time available here. We need someone who can rebound as well as score.

Re: Transfer: Darren Buchanan, Forward, 2022 - Transferring from Va Tech

Time for my very unofficial handicapping based on these recent quotes along with my paraphrasing on DBJ's behalf.:

Georgetown   14-1.   I appreciate their history and where they once were back when Coach Ewing was a player.  But, this program seems to be in a bad state right now and besides, they got to me pretty late in the game.

Virginia Tech.   9-2.   This might be perfect if the campus was located someplace other than Blacksburg, VA.  But, this is the ACC which means I'll play at Cameron, the Dean Dome, the Carrier Dome, etc.

GW:  4-1     They are great people who believed in me very early on.  Close to home.  Good competition.  Can't understand why they aren't winning more, but maybe I can help a lot with that.

Rutgers:  11-2.   Program is on the rise and minutes will be opening up for me right away.  Big 10 is great basketball but it's a lot of far away travel.  How often will the family get to see me play?

George Mason: 4-1.  English is a hot young coach who is getting talent.  Has not recruited me for nearly as long but this is his first year at Mason.  Close to home.
