Women on national TV @Noon ET today vs Dayton

After their game with SLU got scrapped due to COVID (at SLU), the women host Dayton today at noon. Game is on ESPNU (and I hope no one accuses me of putting a misleading title on the thread by calling ESPNU "national TV").

Good game against a top tier A10 team that is not only talented, but tall and experienced. The program is going in the right direction. We have an extremely competitive team that is starting to gel, both offensively and defensively. Today we didn't have major lapses, but several minor ones that Dayton jumped all over. For the most of three quarters, this game could have gone either way.

Our weaknesses remain-- 3pt shooting (3-20) is negligible and multiple times after playing great defense, we gave up an offensive rebound for easy second chance points. GW had a number of good plays with players cutting to the basket. Brigham had four or five good mid-range looks that she missed, but when she starts hitting them, that's going to open up our offense even more.

Agree with most of xAC´s comments (not so sure about the "right direction") and thought the showing today was not bad. The three point shooting is terrible and should probably be avoided at all costs until there is someone who can occasionally hit from behind the arc on the team. The big positives today were 1) Zambrotta played-- she looked like she was seeing her first action of the year but will make this team much better as she gets more playing time-- and 2) Brigham will be a top-level A10 inside player-- needs to improve her footwork on defense a bit, but by the time she is a senior look out!
The better, deeper team won today, but this was much closer than the final score.
