With Seymour announcing today, I wonder if we will finish out the week with enough players to take the floor?
What is our wonderful AD doing while we sink further into the blackhole? Getting ready for the former AD's wedding?Sincere request, Joel, I know it’s the main reason you are here, but can you please refrain from fighting the old fights. We have enough current issues to discuss without the score settling.
To call it "score settling" is disingenuous FQ. The fact is we are where we are because we have a clueless AD installed for reasons having nothing to do with basketball success and everything to do with healing the ML-PN imbroglio.
What has TV shown you that makes you believe she is the right person to lead GW athletics? It's simple identity politics, birthed by the ugly fallout of the former regime.
Say what you want about Kvancz (or even PN before he turned into a raging sex predator). They found a way. TV has shown me nothing to indicate she knows how to run a winning D1 athletics program. I'd be interested in what you see that's different, other than the fact, maybe, that our university president once led athletically-inclined Miami.

Mentzinger, I’m not talking about you. Joel Joseph is clearly a friend or relative of ML, and 99% of his posts take a dig at ML’s perceived enemies or try to remind people that things were better under ML. It’s tiresome, and too much like the old board.
You have a long history of posting that long predates ML so obviously I’m not talking about you (for example, you even offered some praise for PN in your last comment - relative to TY at least - , a perspective we would never get from the couple of ML posters who don’t add anything here except trying to keep fighting the old fight. Thus, my request to JJ to keep this ad nauseum stuff to a minimum; so we don’t lose this board like the last one.
At any rate, who had Mezzie Offerumn as the first (perhaps only) MoJo recruit to make the dance? Watching a little of his game, he sounds to have found a nice level at Mt St Mary’s. The game is slower at that level, which suits him, and he is physically imposing compared to the guys he is going against. Hope he and the mount can win a first four game!
Online!
Look I know this program is paying the price for the PN/Kilgore/Knapp debacle, but Holy Shit! Are we really sniping at each other with all the other garbage going on? And the implosion of the prior board. How about letting stuff go and not getting into a flame war? Walk on by. Don’t feed it. If it really is someone close to former coaches I DONT CARE.
How about talking about NOW?!?! Covid crippled school finances. NBCSN going away. LeBlanc under fire. Current AD leadership. All influenced by the past sure but I’m really tired of this Confederates in the Attic time machine bullshit.
It’s like someone complaining about their ex. They could be in agony but after awhile complaining just wears people out. Pick a new toothache!

Well said FredD.
Look at it this way. We'll have the excitement of a bunch of commits coming up.

Sure hope your recruiting devining rod is accurate FC.
Like everyone says now it’s recruiting and re-recruiting your program.

Well we have to have someone commit or we don't have a team at this stage.

Remember 13 in 5? That's how much fun the Post had mentioning that 13 players transferred out of ML's program over a 5 year period. Turns out, that was nothing.
5 have transferred out this season/off-season ( Battle, Jack, Nelson, Paar, Seymour)
5 have transferred or left before graduation last season/off-season (Mazzula, Offerum, Toro, Walker, and Langarica who I don't believe technically transferred)
4 have transferred prior to being coached by the current staff (S. Brown, Littles, Nolan, DJ Williams)
13 in 5 years is starting to feel like a drop in the bucket.

Before getting too far in the weeds Gwmayhem perhaps you should mention that all but 3 were recruited by someone other than JC. You know context or something. Maybe mention that not one of those players played on a winning team also.

GWRising, there are reasons for everything. Am simply making a comparison between what ML was often lambasted for (13 transfers in 5 years...the program is out of control) and what's happening with this program today. Personally, I believe that way too much was made of the ML defections (an average of less than 3/year never struck me as egregious). And as I have been saying, I am far more concerned about JC and staff's abilities to coach than I am about player defections up until this point. I'll also add that if the player defections continue at this rate over the next year or two, I would become very concerned over JC's ability to retain his own recruits. However, I am not anticipating this to be the case.

Well, here's something else.
Even if we recruit blue chip replacements, is this what you want to want to watch? Or for your alma mater?
In addition to the many bizarre oddities of strategy, playing time, etc. that we have witnessed, do you enjoy watching a team that does nothing for perhaps 25 or more seconds, followed by jocking up some of the most ill-advised inopportune shots possible. Is this a fun style to watch? Meanwhile a great shooting talent doesn't get fed the ball.
Envying ever other team's ball movement. Even those in divisions much lower than yours, who are kicking your butt at home.
Players and coaches mysteriously disappearing midseason.
Having no players from 2 years ago (outside of an injured technicality who didn't play a whole season) on the team. A team with no graduating seniors, so you don't watch them develop long-term, see their families cheer them with pride, applaud them on Senior Day, or see pictures of them in graduation gowns with a degree.
We'll never be Duke long term. Right now, we're not even Davidson. Being a fan of college basketball at this level, one should take some pleasure from having a visceral connection with your team.
The players you proudly saw grow over the years to be a success in business, even become doctors or diligently work their way into the NBA, all while letting us watch them grow as players and people, receiving a GW degree put to use for a successful life beyond basketball.
Is that worth missing? How many eggs do you have to break to make this omelet, and even if it looks beautiful, will it taste bitter?
If this is the plan, even with success (though by leading us into the cellar, there's really nowhere to go but up now), is it worth the cost to our reputation, standards of treating people and morale?
Is this turmoil and turnover what you really want from supporting your college team?

Rising, several of the 13 in 5 years for ML were brought in by Hobbs (Kromah, Pellum, Guest, etc).
Free Quebec, nice try but not a friend or relative of Lonergan. Like you, GW grad. Unlike you, I worked in the GW Athletic Dept for several years, starting in the last 2 years under Kvancz. I saw 1st hand the program that took us so long to build destroyed by Nero. I will be forever pissed at our administration for allowing this to happen, and, to pour salt in our wounds, then spend over $5 million to make it go away and avoid litigation for their stupid mistakes. Deadspin didn't cover half of the nonsense going on at the time.
As for JC, I respect him as a person and coach. As with Mojo, I always said he was a bad pick only because he was not ready for the A-10. Mojo proved me right and the next 3 years will show whether or not I was correct with JC.
As FredD puts it, everyone is sick and tired of talking about a coach who hasn't been here in 5 years. It's not ML's fault our program SUCKS right now.
I'm hoping JC can take advantage of today's college environment and pick up some good transfers. If he does, the question of whether or not he can coach them at this level remains. The A-10 is not the NEC.

We agree - if player defections continue at the same rate it will not be good. However, I don't think that will nearly the case.

This is richer than whipped cream from the guy who suggested on a zoom call that JC force Lindo to play in this era of COVID (with the implication being pull his scholarship if he doesn't want to play). Standards of treating people? Really?

Barry,
This is becoming ridiculous. Everything was going smoothly for the last year until a couple months ago when the old Ziik, now using Brian Paul shows up.
Take a look at our emails - and see who is trolling who.
With nothing but time on his hands to blame everyone else for his problems, he's now posted over 100 times in the last 6 weeks - nothing relevant to GW Basketball.

Brian Paul and Joel Joseph, this message is just to the two of you. Although it really goes for everyone.
Quit the attacks, quit the assumptions, and why the hell can't you people be nice to each other? Really!
In-season I didn't want to ban anybody. We needed every fan we had. Well the season's over. So, go ahead and respond to me here: tell me if you would like to be banned for these attacks or tell me you'll be human to each other.
Thanks.
