Was watching Olympic badminton today (don't ask, although it's a lot different from what we played in our backyards) and one of the Japanese players is Yuta Watanabe. Not our Yuta. Is that like "John Smith" here in the US? Japan won and Yuta is apparently a star. Two Yutas in the Olympics. Who knew?

I cannot speak for "Yuta", but Watanabe is a very popular surname in Japan.

And while we are on the topic of our Yuta, I was disappointed that carrying the flag for Japan in the opening ceremony was Hachimura and not Watanabe.

I agree. Yuta and Pato should have been Olympic flag bearers.
Both on late night/early morning tonight,I think.
Pato and Argentina at 12 40 a.m on cable TV (maybe CNBC or NBC Sports Channel and streaming,as noted by GWAA
And Yuta and Japan later on the NBC Sports App,don't know if it is paid for some Olympic content. May be available somewhere else.
Hoping for good, safe, healthy games for both our Olympians, any other GW competitors, and of course the US in general.
