JC's Recruiting To Date

How would you rate JC's recruiting, so far??

Re: JC's Recruiting To Date

Undecided. Too little info and data. Gotta see this class which thankfully looks the most promising

Re: JC's Recruiting To Date

Hard to tell, since we have some players who haven't performed at a higher level, but could break out.
We've also recruited some with injuries previously, which could pay off if healthy, or be a gamble,as Amir, who did break out and then lost more than a whole season. Hopefully, coming back healthy.
In the past,JNJ was a good recruit we couldn't keep. Noel Brown has raw potential and should have played more, especially earlier last season. Several others recruited by the coach didn't work out at this level.
So we have players from a higher level and freshmen who need to prove themselves in the A10,but if the coach is right about their potential, can recognize the best talent and combinations early, and effectively game coach and strategize, there is good potential. These guideposts are like any other D1 team, but the coach and players have more to prove, especially with the incredibly soft OOC schedule this year.
This time of year there is great hope, and this year could be pivotal if the coaching staff is proven right.

The Power 5 transfers look good to date, what about his HS recruits?

Wait, the power 5 transfers count towards JC's recruiting?  The ML transfers NEVER counted in The Dude's book but suddenly they do under JC?

Just a stunning turn of events.

Re: JC's Recruiting To Date

Too early to tell on everyone.  On paper they look good.  However, on paper Miles Beatty, Joseph Katuka, Jabari Edwards, Cheyenne Moore and Wyton Witherspoon looked good.  So, you don't really know how this pans outs once once they start playing basketball.

You're always going to have some Goss, Miguels and Ciminos, but I think we've got enough of an influx of recruits to start getting a sense of how things are going

Thoughts?

Re: JC's Recruiting To Date

I mean, if you want to judge by the player who have played an actual game, the results aren't that great.  Only four players JC recruited who have actually played are still here (Bishop, Lindo, Brown, Dean).  The rest (Seymour, Walker, Brelsford, Ball, JNJ, Moyer) are all gone. Most of these guys transferred down, which by the standards you have set, means they are recruiting busts.

I think by the end of the OOC games we'll have a good sense on if JC is bringing in A-10 quality players, or guys who peaked in high school.  I think it's the former, but we have to wait and see.

Re: JC's Recruiting To Date

Well, you said we'd finish between 5th and 9th, so you must be basing that on expected big results from the recruits, since the team has been near the bottom of the league, including last season

Re: JC's Recruiting To Date

Between 5th and 9th are "big results"?
What excitement. Phew! Be still our beating heart.
Not disputing the point that it is indeed a jump from fending off the likes of Fordham.
But geez, what depths we have sunk to?

Re: JC's Recruiting To Date

Well, one would say politely, based on anecdotal memories of postseason play and actual reference, one might want to reconsider those numbers cited above. As well as the impact and end results in that time period.

Yeah back when the A10 got 4+ bids not 1 or 2
