You can become the Head Coach of any A10 program, which one do you choose?
VCU? Dayton? another program??
What would be your top 5 order?

1. Davidson
2. Dayton
3. VCU
4. SLU
5. Richmond

I'd take UMass over Richmond or Davidson based on potential. They school has better resources, tradition, and lower recruiting requirements. They just haven't had the right coach since Calipari to put it all together.

I’m surprised at these answers. I would want to coach GW. Not that I would want to knock JC out of a job, but I’d in on this silly message board, you know I love this program.

I'd go Dayton #1.
What's the case for Davidson at the top spot?

Granted McKillop has been there forever so who knows if Davidson becomes like St. Joe's when he leaves, but from an outside observer it just seems like a place where you could go to just coach and not have to have anxiety about either the fanbase going nuts (doubt they'll ever hang "Fire McKillop" billboards) or a lack of funding. Plus you've got one of the top 5 NBA players on speed dial to talk to whatever recruits you want. The residual Steph Curry factor also means that you'll get the benefit of the doubt for invites to quality MTE tournaments.
From a pure career standpoint I agree that Dayton is probably #1. I've lived there and the Flyers are basically like a pro team. You have people who never attended Dayton go to games and buy the gear.
I think coaching at a small school like Davidson while still being able to have a national basketball program sounds pretty cool.

Here’s mine:
1. GW (because I’m a fan)
2. Temple (because in my mind they’re still in the A10)
3. UMass (because in my mind Dayton, SLU, VCU, and Davidson aren’t)
4. URI
5. St. Joe’s
In all seriousness, it would be Dayton, then SLU, then VCU, and then Davidson, which is a real indictment for the old A10.

Remember...the old A-10 had programs such as Villanova, West Virginia, Pitt. Rutgers, Penn State, Xavier, etc. I think the conference has done a great job over the years in maintaining a high quality...not power conference, but pretty damn good. I could not imagine a better fit for GW over the past nearly half century.

Well here's another point for Dayton as the top job: They've sold out UD arena for the entire season

Can not hurt to have Steph Curry as the thing most associated with your program!
I'd put VCU in the #2 spot behind Dayton, and I think they form a clear 1-2.

I’d also much rather live In DC than Dayton.

I'm with you FQ.

I'd have GW in my top 5, probably about 5th.
The DMV recruiting hot bed, and above all, the appeal for international recruits.
The sport is now more international than ever before, GW has as much appeal as a location as any school for international recruiting.

Butler!
porter71 makes a good point about UMass, big budget and big arena. Was it just coaching since the good ol days, or was there some other change?
