My kids got vaccinated today. Second shot done. And I thought to myself, “self, maybe we’ll just go to the game on Wednesday. Maybe it’ll actually be a win and now that the kids are vaxxed we could have a lil fun.”
And then I looked at the prices. The cheapest seat is 20
Bucks a person, for shitty seats in what will
Surely be an empty arena. 25 per seat for upper level seats where at least there would be no obstruction from people
In front of me. Does GW really believe it’s product right now is worth 100 dollars for me to take four people to a game? I’m not poor. But GW versus coppin state, where there is a chance GW loses is not worth 100 bucks. I want my kids there. I want my kids to follow this team, see the players, and be privileged to see things up close in a small arena, providing benefit over the patriot center. But do something for us, GW

Go on StubHub. At least one of thé six current ticket holders should have something more reasonable for sale.

I know you know this, but that’s not the point. I should not have to be compensating somebody for tickets they don’t want to use. I should be compensating the school for a reasonably priced night out

I hear you about ticket prices, but I don't think that $20 for a ticket is unreasonable in the world of admissions to a sporting event. Please don't use a secondary market as ticket sales benefit the program..

I think there's a kid price on tickets. Used to be.
Call ticket office and speak to someone in charge.

Danj, there are many ways to look at this. To some extent, your point has already been taken into account as it costs more to see the University of Maryland play its Big 10 games than it does to watch GW play its Atlantic 10 games. However, from a value perspective, which I believe is where your gripe is, that's inconsistent with many sports and entertainment marketers. They are selling an event, not how good or poor a matchup is.
Take the movies. Certain things impact movie ticket prices like age and the time of day you attend. What does not impact ticket prices is the quality of the movie. Whether you see a $200 million blockbuster, a $15 million indie, an academy award nominated film, or a complete piece of dreck, you're not paying any more for one than the other.
No, it's not completely fair. The school will not reduce its prices when the team is playing poorly, but is more liable to initiate a price increase when the team is playing well.
Yet as others have pointed out, you either realize the entertainment value or you do not. Maybe a trip for 4 to the movies ends up costing 3/4 of the cost of 4 GW tickets. Maybe 4 Wizards cost 2 1/2 times the cost of GW tickets. To some extent, it boils down to what the market will bear.
On the whole, I believe the entertainment value is more than reasonable. I also know that prices will not skyrocket should the team ever become "must-see" again, nor will they be reduced no matter how dismal the product may look.
