Just hopefully not from COVID. A reminder to anyone planning on going to Hawk Hill tomorrow that proof of vaccination is required for all atendees (a negative PCR will not get you through the turnstiles). They have a pretty good ticket deal (4 tix plus some concession vouchers and a piece of St Joe´s paraphenalia you can toss in a rubbish bin for $70). COVID policy can be found here:

Does anyone know if it's the same Hawk for both the men's and women's team? If so, the Hawk flapped a lot on Monday.

Usually two or more different people act as the Hawk. I will never forget the time I was in the lower levels of the Philly Civic Center during the A-10 men's tournament many years ago and the Hawk and Temple Owl got into a real fight because the Owl tried to bear hug the Hawk from behind so he couldn't flap his wings. The fight was broken up and both mascots were summoned to the lower level I was on where Linda Bruno was waiting angrily. I am about 15-20 feet away and she yells "Alright you two, off with your heads." Both mascots took off their heads and Linda dressed them down for probably 5 minutes and told them they were suspended. I was in the hallway with Joe McKeown and we both laughed so hard we had to walk away.

Cal and Stanford make their mascots pass breathalyzers before their games against each other, this after both mascots got in to a drunken punch up at a basketball game a few years ago. The basketball mascot fight is the only thing better than a goalie fight in hockey.
Also, one may refer to the mascot at St Joe´s as "that stupid bird suit" or "that fleabitten stupid bird suit". When Temple was a part of the conference, how that thing ever managed to get out of their games in North Philly without getting the lead pipe treatment is beyond me.

That's a great story.
My understanding is that the various students who serve as the Hawk receive scholarships. And, that this is determined like the winner of a dance marathon is determined. Everyone flaps and the last one or last ones who remain flapping without quitting are the winners. Am wondering whether anyone can confirm this.

Since 1992 according to the interwebs.

Also, for those that might not know this, the Hawk has a long history antagonizing the GW Band. I’d say over the years C-Brass has held its own, but the bird is always on their mind.
