They do have one of the more interesting resumes in memory.
Yes, they get off to a brutal OCC at first (rookies and transfers, sound familiar? who ever would have guessed it takes new player awhile to gel) so there's that.
On the other hand they have top 50 NET and KenPom, they beat Kansas on a Neutral court they won by 30 at VCU, they beat Va Tech, they won neutral court games vs Miami, Belmont, they beat Davidson.
3-2 Quad 1 and 5-3 Quad 2. If they dont today and tomorrow both, it will be a very interesting tourney resume.

They are a tournament quality team but those early season losses and the loss to La Salle could kill them. They definitely have to beat Richmond today if they want into the tournament imo

Must win this game yeah, and looks like that's going to happen.
Malachi Smith is on crutches, so that's not going to help matters.
Davidson at 27-5 looks locked if they lose the Finale.

With this loss there's no way Dayton makes the tournament. If Davidson wins tomorrow the A10 will likely only get 1 team in the tournament when there was a chance for 3. Not great for the conference as a whole

Dayton will be a strong favorite to win the NIT.
Great job by Richmond to remember they are a team full of super seniors who should've been playing like this all season.

Richmond looks like a team that can pull the upset tomorrow, they really have the veteran roster that should've played like this all year, they appear to be putting it all together at the right time.
That said, the game swung entirely on the Malachi Smith injury. Well, we will find out if 3 Quad wins, Kansas included is enough or if in fact they are NIT bound now

That was brutal. They were up 15. That injury to their PG probably just cost them a tourney bid. That’s almost as bad as when Pops’ injury cost us a shot at a deep run just because the committee busted us down to a ridiculous 8 seed with two road games including the #1 overall seed.

For sure, they looked well on their way +15, it does look like it will cost them their bid.
It may be on Richmond winning tomorrow to get multiple bids.
Dayton with and and without Malachi Smith shows you how these A10 teams are really driven (generally) by a few key players, and can fall apart without them. We are (a lesser version regardless) just simply a different team with and without Ira Lee, the one guy we simply could not do without as a roster.
Dayton who has two good Bigs, DaRon and Toumani Camara, looked lost without Malachi, they had no Guard to get the needed bucket cut off the head of the snake, the offense bogged down. We had no paint presence.

Bernadette should be fired if the A-10 only gets one bid. Unacceptable.

So Dayton, was one of the last 4 out and if I heard correctly THE last team out.
17-14 Michigan, not only gets in, but they get in without a playin game. Dubious but predictable

As predictable as the sun rising in the east.

What it shows is that metrics will only keep out teams that don't have the name recognition of a Dayton. The committee chair said that Dayton was in until Richmond knocked them out.

I'd like to hear a possible explanation, for Notre Dame in this field. They had 10 chances in Quad 1, lost 8 of the games. 2-1 in Quad 2.
They were 3-11 vs Quad 1 and 2. .... 3-11!
The criteria only applies to keep out smaller schools who don't get Quad 1 cracks, HOWEVER.. when you play 10 and lose 8, that's fine somehow. the two wins were by 4 points, otherwise lost 8, also lost a Quad 3 game to BC 73-57. Their resume was basically two words:
"NOTRE DAME"

CBS wants the whole Michigan storyline, fan base, sponor recognition and ratings over some school that could not even make the A10 final and plays in the only city in Ohio without a major league team? I am shocked. SHOCKED!
Folks in Boulder are pissed, too. But they can blame "East Coast bias".
If you count Loyola-Chicago, the A10 did manage three bids! (hey, something is something, right?)

It’s possible the Sunday final helped us this year because the committee clearly decided a second A10 team was getting in regardless of who won the final. (Truthfully, they probably slotted Dayton as last team in before they lost to Richmond because I think they usually have the elections done by then.).

If Dayton was their last time, as they are saying, (officially) did the Va Tech win over Duke, which put Va Tech on the 11 line, knock them out?
Richmond beating Davidson, also took away a spot, but if Richmond wins and Va Tech loses, seems like the A10 gets 3 teams in, if one takes them at their word.
I was of the view that Dayton was in fact a legit bubble team since they had that neutral court win over Kansas, not all quad 1 wins are treated equally. The Committee puts a lot on a marquee win or 2.
I am sure, that in pushing in Notre Dame, who has the worst at large resume, by a wide margin, they hammered on the Kentucky win to make that case.
