More turmoil for that school every Colonial over 60 lives to hate.
Starting PG James Akinjo and Josh LeBlanc both announced they are entering the transfer portal.
Akinjo is playing over 30 minutes a game and a very high Usage player for them. Huge loss (though he’s never quite put it all together to be a star, he’s been close and some team he transfers to will probably get a borderline all conference player when he’s a senior).
LeBlanc is a hyper athletic guy who has basically been 6th man for them, playing about 20 minutes a game.
I would imagine both will go to big name bcs programs, but if either wants to stay in DC, I’m sure we would make room.

As a well under 60 I've never hated, but I would be delighted to land either of these guys.
Anyone know the back story with these guys?

Both of them are big-time players, they'll probably end up at BCS schools. I actually think LeBlanc has NBA potential. LeBlanc was a starter last year, but was suspended for Georgetown's 1st game of the year and then given limited minutes in the other games, so you could sense that Ewing had some sort of issue with him.
Georgetown is hinting that both players broke the law or committed some other dastardly act which caused Ewing to kick them off the team. We've seen them do this in the past with guys who transfer mid-season, including Sodom, who was going to transfer to GW. I'm looking through twitter and their board to see what the rumor is, their moderator deleted a rumor posted on that board, but this isn't a Georgetown board, we can post rumors about them here!! HA!
On the Georgetown board, a poster wrote something about them being #meetoo'd. But the rumor I've seen twice on twitter just now is that Akinjo and LeBlanc beat up a dealer who confronted them about stealing from them!! When I saw the term dealer, I immediately thought of a "street dealer", but the 'dealer' may be someone who works at one of the expensive stores around Georgetown.
I posted this on the 'Other Games' thread, but I'll mention it here too, a local top 75 player from Gonzaga committed to Georgetown during the summer, but did not sign his LOI last month which has concerned a lot of their fans. This has been a bad few weeks for Georgetown when you look at the home losses to UNC-Greensboro and Penn State, Terrance Williams not signing his LOI and now 2 of their best players transferring or getting kicked off the team

Someone from the Georgetown board was able to find a Temporary Restraining Order that a Georgetown female student filed against Josh LeBlanc and Galen Alexander. G.Alexander is still on the team, but he did have some sort of issue at LSU, transferred or was dismissed from there, went to a JUCO and ended up a Georgetown. Down below is the actual post from the Georgetown board. The next entry is the actual TRO she filed.
A person identified as a student filed for, and received, a Temporary Restraining Order against Josh and Galen Alexander in DC Superior Court. The TRO was granted on November 20. In the court paperwork, she alleged Josh stole things from her and had threatened her and her friends. In the TRO application, she noted she filed police reports for burglary and sexual misconduct against him. The DC court case number is 2019 CA 007301 B, Oki v LeBlanc et al., and can be accessed online via the search function at eaccess.dcourts.gov. The site doesn't appear to support linking to specific cases, but I uploaded a copy of the TRO here: imgur.com/a/hYpla6P

Hey, I am still (marginally) under 60, but I live to hate those twats. Careful FQ (something about throwing rocks at glass houses or old farts using terms like "OK boomer"...)
Allow me to cry some crocodile tears for our low-rent neighbors, but this has to be seen as a death blow, especially if what Thomas has posted is relevant. Coming mid-season (and on the heels of a home loss to UNC-W that is sure to please the peanut gallery), this may make DC a one-team city again...

The moderator on that board has deleted the post that referred to the Temporary Restraining Order filed by the Georgetown student against 2 or 3 basketball players, but it's still here, and someone posted it on twitter. I'm almost tempted to go on Georgetown's board and direct them here to get the real scoop, but I'll play nice.HA! Also, on my last entry, you'll see an embedded link, that is a link to the actual TRO filed in D.C. Court
It also appears as if Akinjo isn't in any sort of legal trouble, he just wanted to jump off a sinking ship, and maybe get the full year of eligibility at his next school. Down below are twitter links to the Georgetown female student's Temporary Restraining Order, allegations made against 3 Georgetown players and a reddit forum discussing this. Someone on reddit mentioned that there is a list of Georgetown students who sexually harass female students, and supposedly Akinjo and LeBlanc are on that list. This may actually turn out to be a NATIONAL SCANDAL!! Stay Tuned!!

a series of posts about the allegations made against Georgetown players Josh LeBlanc, Galen Alexander and Myron Gardner

Mention of the TRO in the comments but not in the post reporting.

Not a shocking development (the Post coverage). The Amazon Post is a day late and a dollar short on most stories these days.

Look I really hate Georgetown basketball. I hate the don’t play us every year. But this gives me no unmitigated joy and with more women taking action no men’s team is really insulated. And if what’s posted is the basis for the TRO I hope that if this happened at GW that the school wouldn’t mess around.

I just saw tweets that if this causes G'town to fire Ewing, the school should take a hard look at hiring JC away from us. I know there was interest in JC before they hired Ewing, but I just don't see that happening.
My $ would be on Shaka Smart.

Well put FredD. This is a very serious issue and assuming there is at least some truth to what's been reported, it's easy to see why LeBlanc was removed from the team. Akinjo has not been linked to any of this which makes his departure a bit more surprising. Sounds like he is either standing by LeBlanc in solidarity or he recognizes a sinking ship when he sees one.
Ewing's fate should boil down to what if anything he knew, when he knew it, and what actions if any did he take once he knew it. In the best case scenario for Ewing, this was all kept quiet and Ewing was kept in the dark about this. In that instance, I don't know how you fire someone for not knowing. (I also don't like the argument that he should have known; these coaches can't babysit their players 24/7 as much as some people seem to think they should.)

Might want to reword this. Did you mean "this could happen to any team"? All men´s teams can and should be insulated, they simply need to ensure that they recuit people who believe in equal treatment for all, including members of the opposite sex. Period. It is something everyone should learn about the time they learn to walk.
Otherwise, SJT´s "sage" advice about teaching girls not to drink will only make these events more frequent and severe.

We don't need to worry about losing JC in the near future to anybody. With a career winning percentage of .500 at both Mt St Mary's and Siena, he's not going anywhere. This was my biggest complaint when he was hired but we were desperate. When he can get us back into the top half of the A-10 consistently, we can then worry.
Even if these 2 players kicked out of Gtown were interested in GW, we shouldn't go near them. The 1 thing I can say about our last 3 coaches is that they have all brought in high quality kids who will go on to become good human beings. Lets not start taking other school's problems so we can get out of the self inflicted hole we put ourselves in quicker.

Definitely not those who were named in the complaint. Others here may have more insight, but complaints like that, especially given the pressure these young ladies no doubt faced to keep quiet, are a real clear indication of (alleged) problems. Wouldn't touch these guys and they should be deal with in the justice system.
Hard to follow this story, given the lack of quality reporting (where's the months long, pages long investigation of problems at Georgetown?) But one, Akinjo? is not so far linked to this, but seems odd he took a powder as well. In any case, we have had bad luck with their behavioral (when it can't be hushed up) or playing time rejects. (Sodom was both, though this guy seems pretty decent as a player)
Thankfully, they didn't foist off their loser ex-coach on us. T

@GWAA-The way I look at it the gray area between interaction that both parties are ok with and assault and harassment may have shrunk to nothing but the bright lines of hindsight are not always clear in the moment. Maybe there is widespread understanding of what the lines are now within a student body but I doubt it. So I stand by my point that the usual glee in GTN fucking up is misplaced and thinking all a school has to do is recruit good guys isn’t enough.
