The schedule is out! Opening Day is Feb 18 at Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Also non-conf road series at South Carolina and East Tenn. Traditional thumping at UVA is March 8. After ending last season with a complete collapse, ColonialsBall is picking things up right where it left off, losing the first two games of the season at Texas-Rio Grande. In the first two games, GW has managed 10 hits and one run, but not to worry as these have been offset by seven errors, four hit batsmen and three wild pitches. So it is not just the offense that is aenemic.
These games have been played in front of big crowds (2.500 on Opening Night and 1,200 for yesterday´s game). Then again, I am unaware of any other entertainment options in Edinburg, TX.

Well, the good news is ColonialsBall scored 3 runs on 10 hits today, only made one error and the pitchers struck out 8. However, UTRGV gets the sweep with a 23-3 win today. All 23 runs were earned, even though TXRGV only managed 17 hits (those 14 walks and two hit batters help explain that). 1,000 people showed up for the 11am game. So average attendance for road baseball games is higher than it is for home basketball games.

After the slow start, ColonialsBall are now 11-13 and-- most importantly-- beat the evit twits from That School Down the Street today with an impressive late inning comeback to win 11-7 (after being down by 6 at the middle of the 5th).

After the weekend sweep of St Bona, not only is ColonialsBall two games above .500 now, but they are 3-0 in the conference (and if they keep that pace up, they would finish in first!). GW outscore St Bona 37-5 over the three games. Dayton come to town for three this weekend, probably will be a more worthy opponent.

ColonialsBall took two of three from Dayton, ending hopes of an undefeated A10 season, and are now 5-1 in conference play heading in to next weekend´s series at St Joe´s (who play in the closest baseball field to Larry´s Steaks-- just a 15 mins walk away and likely the only notable thing to be said about St Joe´s baseball).

After getting swept in Philly, ColonialsBall took two of three at former national powerhouse Richmond over the weekend. The rubber game Sunday saw 9th inning drama as the Spiders scored two with two out in the bottom of the inning and had the tying run at third and the winning run at second before Kuncl closed them out for his 4th save of the season.
Up next: 6pm tomorrow (Tuesday) at That School Down the Street. But do not despair, you do not need to venture to Satan´s Lair to attend, it is being played at a ballpark in SE near Fort Dupont Park.

And it is "Wait ´till next year" time as ColonialsBall lost 9 of its last 12 (all conference games) to finish 22-30 (10-14 in the A10). Ended the season taking two of three from UMassholes but still finished a couple of games out of the conference tournament. Team went 3-22 on the road.
