Years ago, Frank Martin agreed to a 2 for 1 while coaching Kansas State. K-State came to the Smith Center but Martin did not as he accepted the South Carolina job. Martin agreed to bring the Gamecocks to DC but cancelled that visit. Martin is now at UMASS, a conference school, who is scheduled to play at GW this year. Then again, UMASS was scheduled to play here on Jan. 6, 2021, made the trip, but never played for very obvious reasons. Will Frank Martin finally set foot insidfe the Smitty? Stay tuned.

As for the conference split, I'd say GW made out rather well. We will have to wait a year to see Loyola in person unless a winter trip to Chicago is in the cards.

An SEC team coming to play at the Smith Center is a pretty significant development considering how GW has fared in recent years. How did this game come about? Is it a return game? I believe someone on here brought up that Frank Martin was supposed to bring South Carolina to Smith Center at some point within the last few years and just backed out of it.

I've mentioned in the past that I was in attendance when GW played at Cameron under Jarvis. Duke led at one point 40-8. (Similar to the recent fiasco against South Carolina at the CT casino). The highlight of the game was when Koul fouled out with plenty of time left and refused to take a seat on the bench, thereby frustrating the Duke students who screamed "sit down" for about 15 minutes or so.
So, no real rush to play again in Durham.

Wazzu has an excellent young coach and will probably crush us. Pepperdine was pretty bad last year, so we should have a shot to beat them in the second round.
Third round opponent should be favored against us, no matter which of the 4 it is.

Once again, Georgetown takes the coward's way out and doesn't schedule a game against us.
They have, however, scheduled American U for the second straight season.

That School Down the Street being too chickenshit to schedule GW is about as inevitable as me waiting until the day of the Seder to remember to run to the store to buy matzoh (yes, I am one of THOSE people when it comes to planning). If their students ever decide that "Hoya" reminds them too much of a word it has no relationship to, may I suggest their new nickname be "Yellow Streaks".

You all followed Georgetown last year, right? Without any due respect (to the Hoyas), what would we have to gain by beating this lame team?
(Please don't provide a serious answer to this.)

We would get to breakout the “What the heck is a Hoya” chant for the first time in 40 years.

Excellent phraseology, gents.
Very good point by LSF.
Wasn't it "What the hell's a Hoya?"

Very odd pairings. Using last year's KenPom ratings as a guide:
Iona (89) vs SMU (62)
Seattle (139) vs Utah State (60)
Hawaii (169) vs Pepperdine (279)
GW (226) vs Wash. State (44)
I'd say they lined up Iona/SMU as a strong tv matchup except all games are televised by ESPN2 or ESPNU.
4 of the top 5 schools on one side of the draw? I get Hawaii receiving the easiest opening game but even still, this is very unbalanced.
